That's 2 ACC #1 seeds out (UVA and ND). Stanford is the 3rd ACC #1 seed.
The winner of Stanford vs. BYU will face #2 seed Michigan State which won today.

Game on vs. BYU.
No Boamah again and Smith is at LB. No Murdock, Freer at LCB. I assume Boamah is hurt and maybe Murdock is benched after last game? - she came out in the second half.
BYU turning it over a bunch early in bad spots.
1:0 Aikey scores. So far BYU looks helpless on defense. Reviewed - goal is good.
2:0. Kitahata with the second goal. BYU has to do something different or this will hit double digits.
3:0 Aikey off a ball over the top of the defense. No idea how BYU beat UCLA.

Subs losing a bit of the momentum now.
4:0 Montoya to Klinger. In between BYU should have made it 3:1. Wide open header off a free kick, but an excellent reaction save for Birkel.
Already deep into the bench. Bray in. Kohler looked tired.
Bad, bad Jung pass almost results in a BYU goal.
Boamah has been in for a bit. Murdock also on, Freer to RB to rest Bhuta. Freer promptly gets carded. Kind of a mess right now.
4:0 at halftime. Subbing killed a lot of the Stanford rhythm; BYU had 4 good chances after the subbing started and should have scored 1 or 2 of them. You finally got a sense of things BYU is good at. Some of the starters looked tired and it was 3:0 when the subs started; so I am not really complaining.

6:0. Kohler and Klinger with headed goals off crosses. Basically unmarked headers in fact.
Time to start pulling starters.

Ends 6:0. Michigan St next.
Mass subbing shortly after I said it was time.
Excellent first 25 minutes today made the rest of the game irrelevant.

Also TCU knocked off North Carolina in PKs.
3 ACC teams remain - Stanford, Duke and Florida State.
3 Big 10 teams remain - Ohio St, Michigan St, Washington.
Plus Vanderbilt and TCU.

Great to see Washington make it. Their former goal keeper died Nov 7 of kidney cancer at age 21. Stanford WVB wore orange ribbons as Washington did to honor her.

Three out of the six goals were headers; four were brought up from the side and centered to a waiting attacker. It’s hard to tell how much of this was bad BYU defense and how much of it was really solid pressure from the Stanford side.

TCU and Vandy, which both played today, will host their quarterfinal games on Saturday.
Stanford also played today, but will host its quarterfinal game on Friday. One less recovery day which does not seem fair. Is that because of football on Saturday? The men's soccer match is Sunday so no conflict there.

The players should be decently rested even by Friday night? As Hieronymus noted, most of the starters played only about half the match.

The Evans long ball to the breakaway Aikey for the third goal was majestic!

Some women's soccer news - Margueritte Aozasa (former Stanford assistant) has left her position as UCLA head coach to become Texas's new head coach. This is a very big move by Texas. They fired their prior coach Ange Kelly who had won 3 conference titles, made 8 NCAA tournaments and 2 Sweet 16s. But apparently Texas wants to win national championships (which Aozasa did in her first season at UCLA).

I was wondering when UT might make a move in WSoc and was worried they might go after Ratcliffe.

It probably didn't help that after taking some steps forward, Texas was 4-12 this past season with losses to mighty programs such as Northwestern State. While the resume is solid, when you have the resources of Texas, you shouldn't be losing to NW State

As much as we scored against BYU, I was most excited that we got a clean sheet. We haven't had one since October 9. And with all the subbing, I thought that was even more impressive.
As amazing as our offense is, I keep worrying we will run into a team that will just bunker down and take us into PKs. I am happy our offense is still clicking... but soccer is one of those sports where you could be dominating a game still lose.

Watching Duke-UW while waiting for our game. Duke is the much better team.
