Jasmine Aikey has a goal contribution in all 13 of the NCAA tournament games she has played in her career. I don't know how to verify it, but it sure seems like that streak could be an NCAA record. As a comparison, Catarina Macario, despite her incredible productivity (38 postseason points in 3 seasons), only had goal contributions in 12 of her 17 NCAA tournament games, including zero goal contributions in either of her last two College Cups. Surprisingly Cat also had zero College Cup goals in her career (Jasmine's game-winning free kick vs Duke was her first). I'm rooting for Jasmine to get at least one goal contribution this afternoon and finish off her postseason career with a perfect 14 of 14 streak. Hopefully her goal contribution will also help secure the national championship! Go Card!
PS Florida State has 4 WSOC national championships to Stanford's 3. I'm really hoping for the win to move into a tie for 2nd place all time. (It'll be a while before Stanford can dream of catching North Carolina's 23 national titles.) Notre Dame has 3. UCLA, USC, Santa Clara and Portland have 2 each. Those with a single title are George Mason, Florida and Penn State.

Interesting to see what the defense looks like today. Without any information, I expect the same as against Duke.
I am also very interested to see how Evans sets up on offense. She is not so good at triggering the offense with long balls from a deep-set position. She is very good at triggering when bringing the ball forward, but that is beyond risky vs. FSU if she gets caught out. Smith and Murdock trying to chase Dudley or Hudson on a breakaway gives me nightmares. Evans can’t quite run with Dudley - see the championship 2 years ago - but she is close. Nobody else in the back except Boamah has a prayer.

This has the possibility of getting chippy if the referees lose control of the match. There were 4 yellow cards in the first match this season in Tallahassee.

Early on, breathing heavily appears to be a foul. And I am almost always on the college ref’s are too permissive camp.

Kitahata is really struggling so far.
And the midfield can’t go to ground without getting the ball. Letting FSU run freely through midfield into the attack is death. Need to be able to run back and help. Nguyen literally bounced off Dudley a few minutes ago and hit the ground.
Boamah in now. Smith can’t handle being isolated . Boamah is better 1v1 but has been positional questionable for the last third of the season. Pick your risks.
Murdock slow roller picked off and almost turns into a goal.
And Murdock does it again and gets carded. This is now a big problem. You cannot play that ball wide too slowly. Murdock now subbed out.

I really hope Bhuta can go another 45 because I don’t think you can put Murdock back in with the card. Freer has been notably more physical and effective at CB as well.

Six shots on goal, some high quality, is nothing to sneeze at from Stanford. They need to keep it up to break through. Clearly it'll take more to beat one of the best GKs in the nation.

The 2nd half is being played mostly in Florida's half but the FSU defense is stout. And chippy with the refs needing to step in on marginal calls. Despite the pressure, no shots on goal through the 2nd half's first 15 minutes. Hopefully this won't go to PKs.

Again, Stanford was doing well early in the half, though the shots have not been on goal. FSU had a couple of chances, and I think they got their first couple shots on frame.
Overall, Stanford has been the better team, but not overwhelmingly so. This match could go either way.

Florida State with several counters and a couple of shots on goal. FSU's Jordyn Duncan is FAST ... and dangerous on the quick counter.
Nice save by FSUs GK on a powerful Stanford free kick. Save number 8 for FSU's Ockene. (Followed by #9 on a dangerous Stanford header as the final 15 minutes begins).
