RE: FOOTBALL: UCLA GAME THREAD - chrisk - 10-29-2022

Stanford is one of five teams with one conference win, and it looks like it will remain that way after tonight.

Stanford will not play two of the other four teams in 2022 and will play the other two in November (WSU 11/5 and Cal 11/19).

Counting UCLA as a loss, the five conference teams Stanford has lost to have a grand total of six conference losses (an average of 1.2).

And on Offense:  FG, INT, PUNT, PUNT, PUNT...
Gotta get a punt fumble recovery...

Another 3 & out what a surprise

UCLA will have 300 yards rushing by halftime

About what I expected. This is not ND or ASU and we are overmatched everywhere, especially on the sideline and up in the booth

RE: FOOTBALL: UCLA GAME THREAD - thatboy - 10-29-2022

I'm reacting to an earlier play, but what's with the fake QB hand-offs this year? I'm not a football expert, but I've seen enough games throughout my life to know the ones we're running look terrible. It seems like just a waste of several seconds while the QB gets discombobulated and then quickly throws an interception. Every time Stanford runs one of these fake hand-off plays this year (and they seem to be doing more than usual), it seems like they're lucky just to not fumble the ball. Or they genuinely don't know which player is supposed to keep the ball.

Maybe it's just me. I'm just an armchair no nothing. But that's how it appears to me.

We need to play for FGs... That's what we do.  21 straight points for Mr. Karty!
Karty might get a graduate scholarship, just to keep him around.

RE: FOOTBALL: UCLA GAME THREAD - cardcrimson - 10-29-2022

Woo Hoo Karty! We've cut it to 18!

RE: FOOTBALL: UCLA GAME THREAD - Phogge - 10-29-2022

On third down McKee was so rattled that he fired when he still had time. He is shook.

RE: FOOTBALL: UCLA GAME THREAD - thunder_chik - 10-29-2022

Gee whiz, we're only down 3 scores...

RE: FOOTBALL: UCLA GAME THREAD - ADPinWDC - 10-29-2022

Down 24-6.  Chip Kelly has 1:20... How many points can Bruins bag here?

OK.  UCLA hooked the FG badly.  Only down 24-6 at half.
Bruins matriculated down the field for >300 yards with a balanced attack.
As predicted, Charbonnet already booked 115 yards by half with 2 TDs... more than the entire offense of STAN.

Adjustments at half time?  Play with 12 on Defense:
No pass rush by Cardinal; UCLA can do whatever it wants; they are 3 for 3 on FOURTH down. 4-9 on third.
Maybe let Daniels play Second Half.  Save McKee for next week and BigGame.

RE: FOOTBALL: UCLA GAME THREAD - cardcrimson - 10-29-2022

We are so so much better than UCLA. . . .

. . . .at kicking field goals

RE: FOOTBALL: UCLA GAME THREAD - TonyLima - 10-29-2022

RUFKM? A run with the clock expiring?  Shaw gets the pussy of the year for that call.

What a pathetic performance by the Cardinal.

No one ever accused David Shaw of coming up with a deviously clever game plan on O.

Disgusting.

Will less than 10K show up for each of the remaining games against WSU and BYU?

RE: FOOTBALL: UCLA GAME THREAD - JohnR34231 - 10-29-2022

We have now gone, what, nine straight quarters without scoring a touchdown.
Going into the season I thought the offense would be one of our strengths.
Make that 10.

RE: FOOTBALL: UCLA GAME THREAD - thunder_chik - 10-29-2022

Thank you, Mr. Bailey, for forcing a punt.  And  Mr. Tremayne for a first down.

RE: FOOTBALL: UCLA GAME THREAD - cardcrimson - 10-29-2022

Nearly 6 minutes into the second half, and UCLA has yet to score. Stanford is on a roll!

Did you see the left tackle who recovered the fumble by McKee completely BLOW the block on the UCLA guy rushing the passer? PATHETIC!!!!

McKee throws 50% of his passes while retreating to save his life!!

RE: FOOTBALL: UCLA GAME THREAD - ADPinWDC - 10-29-2022

We continue to punt the ball well -- 45yd average on 4 of those.  Midway Q3.

How about if we try about 10 more to see if we can keep our average up?
