Exactly. If you wonder why football is losing boatloads of money...look no further

Football is losing money because those folks weren't doing their job. . . .

Precisely. Every football staff in the country is this big (or bigger). Naive to say "this is why we're losing money." We're losing money because the team has been dogshit, nobody shows up to games, and Larry Scott screwed the conference on TV rights.

How did Larry Scott screw the conference on TV rights? Not that long ago people were singing the praises of the new guy in charge. To me, it looks like he's not going to have any more luck spinning the Pac whatever's media rights straw into gold than Scott did.

If Scott was meeting with SMU and SDSU, people would have been apoplectic. Would Larry Scott have allowed USC and UCLA to bolt under his watch? Or might he have been more proactive about keeping them in the fold?

It seems possible Kliavkoff was caught with his pants down vis-a-vis the Big Ten taking the most valuable properties in the conference over which he is in charge.

Anyway, I don't think the Pac whatever would have fared any better with Roy Kramer in charge. There are too many factors working against the Pac whatever for any particular commissioner to have staved off its slow death. Two of them are Cal and Stanford being oblivious and seemingly unconcerned about the value of their media rights being destroyed by institutional indifference to football.

Hats off to him. Played a big role in a lot of fun.

RE: Eubanks leaving stanford - vataha - 02-21-2023

I remember being a bit underwhelmed when ASU and UofA joined the conference, then even a bit discouraged when Utah and CU joined thinking it watered down the prestige of the PAC-10. Yes, I am aware that this is probably elitist but now I see names like SMU, UNLV, Fresno State etc. and I'm not excited. I don't mind playing one game a year against the Sac. States, San Jose' States, UC Davis' but not a nearly full schedule of 'em.

Yeah well Utah and Colorado have been thumping on us recently so . . .

I would assume this is Eubanks' replacement:

"Sources tell FootballScoop that Stanford is adding UConn general manager Preston Pehrson to the staff. We understand Troy Taylor is bringing him on board to serve as director of recruiting and player personnel for the Cardinal."
