If Muir fires Stanford Jerod today, maybe he can hire Madsen right away so the Mad Dog can coach both teams on Wednesday.

Rumors out of Charlottesville suggest Tony Bennett has had enough of NIL/Portal basketball and may be ready to ride off into the Shenandoah and thus why UVA is on the bubble. If I recall, that's also what prompted Jay Wright to hang it up early. Stanford could throw half their endowment at whales like those two, but I'd be shocked if either one wants a reclamation project along with all that cross-country travel.
Start looking at the UCIs of the world for a hungry non-household name ready to take on the world for more money.
I used the plural of UCI. It doesn't have to be UCI, but you get the idea. Turner was a hot commodity and exactly the kind of coach Stanford would hire five years ago before his hot water episode.
For what it's worth, BetMGM is calling Joe Pasternack (UCSB). Like I said, plural.
I don't know. If Muir is going to be calling the shots, I'm not that excited. My interest in basketball has fallen to the point where my 6 year old granddaughter will be filling out my bracket for me. Which means...I'm winning it this year *******!!

While he's coached at Columbia, he doesn't have a proven track record of making the tournament or winning the ivy. He's had one decent season which is this year. I'd like to be more consistent success.
Smith is under consideration at UDub and Ohio State. While I would like to see him at Stanford, I think he will find a job with an employer who is willing to pay more than the Cardinal are likely to offer.

The GSB is the most difficult business school to get into in the nation. My daughter applied with 3.5 years of work experience, degrees from Pomona College and Oxford, almost a perfect GRE score and didn't get an interview. Of course she is in the non-profit world, so it wasn't likely, but still....
I don't think our basketball players are ever getting in there straight out of college. The admission rate is 4-6%.
On the other hand, the School of Education admitted my sister who did not graduate from high school, but had a degree from UC-Santa Cruz and an MFA from a college with a 100% acceptance rate. Good enough to get her into SUSE.

Stanford vs. California prediction from The Arizona Republic
The Arizona Republic's Jeremy Cluff predicts (https://www.azcentral.com/story/sports/college/pac-12/2024/03/11/pac-12-conference-tournament-picks-predictions/72932359007/) a close game between the Pac-12 rivals, with California winning, 76-73.
He wrote: "These teams played in the regular season finale on March 7 in a game
that Stanford won 80-58. California beat Stanford on Jan. 26, 73-71. We think this game will look more like the first matchup."

So, it is past COB Monday on the West Coast. Was he fired today and the announcement is tomorrow, or is this just more made up internet schtuff?
He is laser-focused on
something. I'll give him that.

Didn't Muir say he'd conduct a review at the end of the season? And wouldn't that suggest there will be no chance until at least later this week after we are eliminated in the Pac-12 tournament?

In general, no one is getting into a top business school straight out of college without work experience. As for GSB admissions, yes it is difficult. But it gets a lot easier if you come from a top consulting firm such as McKinsey/Bain/BCG (which some might argue is harder to get in than GSB as they themselves require top test scores and high GPAs).

So much for any pipe dream that Madsen would leave Cal after one year.

Sounds to me like Kal was afraid that Stanford would come a knockin very shortly, and they are being proactive in trying to keep mad dog.

Still small sample size and after the beatdown by Haas last time, time will see if he's the right coach.

We getting beat up pretty good by Cougs
Down 15 with a little left in first half
Hope post season coach review, which might be able to start in bout an hour, is brief, decisive, and leads to turning over a new leaf.

Raynaud was PAC-12 Most Improved Player. Unfortunately, it seems to me that Kaanan Carlyle is a leading contender for whatever the opposite of that award would be…
