Stanford-Alabama. March 2004. 11 vs 44 FT attempts. It still hurts!
You had to bring that one up. One of the most poorly officiated games ever in an NCAA tourney game.
Somewhere Ernie Filiberti is chuckling and saying “You groused about PAC-8/10/12 officiating for decades, but now you get to see that you didn’t have it so bad after all…”

I was at the game. He twisted his ankle (it looked like) and limped off. Stayed on the bench for the rest of the game. Hopefully nothing too serious but we'll see.
To the other comments, yeah, the refereeing in this game was weird. Being at the game I didn't get the benefit of replays or TV commentary, but it seemed like our guys got called for touch foul after touch foul but none of theirs were. Not that they weren't necessarily fouls, but just a different standard of judgment. And Raynaud's two free throws were in the first 2 minutes so we went 38 minutes without ever going to the line. That must be some kind of record.
There was one funny thing that probably didn't get picked up on camera. Blakes' technical had seemed like a silly whistle from an overly-sensitive ref. A friend watching on TV texted that it looked to be based on Blakes' reaction to the foul, which in person looked like basically nothing. Much later in the game, a SMU player reacted to a call right in front of Blakes, who was standing on the sideline waiting to check in, and Blakes pointed at the player and looked at the ref with an eye-rolling expression that perfectly conveyed "umm, hello? That's exactly what I got T'd for? No? Nothing?" I laughed in the moment.

Ah, yes. Good old Booker Turner. This is bringing back memories of quite a few of the old guard. Mark Reischling, Tom Harrington. Bill Bussenius (sp?). Mel Ross. Charlie Range…
Here’s to hoping that our foray into the ACC turns out to be too short to develop a new Hall of Shame…
And, yes, I guess Garibaldi was… okay. :-)

Simple message: bravo to Coach Kyle Smith for a fine win against SMU. He's done a great job with the team this year. One more for 20 wins; more than I expected. Pulling for the team to get an invite to the Big Dance. Kudos to Maxime Raynaud, who has had an outstanding year. Amazing to see how strong, reliable, and multi-talented he has become.

The TV announcers noticed that too and commented on it. Funny!

In our only Pac-12 tourney game in 2013, it was more than 39 minutes into the game until Stanford shot a free throw:

About one game in 2500 has 0 free throws for either team. So it’s not impossible it is really, really uncommon.
