Too many of his errors have led to a poor result.

Nico Hoerner went 3-4 on Sunday to push his batting average up to .301 (#16 in MLB). He is tied for 13th in doubles with 15 and tied for 15th in steals with 11.
Kris Bubic got Cained (or maybe I should say Webbed) again on Sunday - he pitched 7 innings giving up 1 run on 4 hits and 2 walks (and 9 Ks). But he took the 1-0 loss vs. A.J. Hinch and the Tigers. He now leads MLB in ERA at 1.43. He is 10th in Ks (79) and WHIP (1.00) and 11th in opponents batting average (.196).

Over the last month (but perhaps not including last night!), the Giants have the best bullpen in baseball. Two former Cardinal have contributed to their success:
Erik Miller is 2-0, 1.35 ERA, 24 games, 20 IP, 19 Hits, 15 walks, 2 HBP, 16 K's. Good ERA, but has serious control issues that he didn't have last year.
Tristan Beck, recently called up, has pitched in three games, 5 2/3 innings, given up two hits and two walks, has a sparkling 0.706 WHIP and has given up just one run.

Tristan Beck ouch, 2 IP, 48 pitches, walked 3 and gave up homers to Ohtani and T. Hernandez, SFG loses 11-5.

In better news, the All Star game voting has Edman and Hoerner in 2nd and 3rd so far among NL second basemen. From mlb.com:

SFG lose to lowly Marlins. Quantrill 4 2/3 IP, 82 pitches, 3 K, 4 hits, 2 ER (both on a SFG homer) and no decision, needed one more out.
Stowers singled off Verlander and scored. Also threw a laser from deep left field to the SS after a long double; the SS then threw home where the non-sliding Devers was out by 15 feet.
Cubs lose but Hoerner shines, 3 for 4, first homer of the season, 2 runs, 2 RBI, and his 15th steal.

Maverick is one of my favorite Stanford players of recent years. Like me, he's from the Denver area. We were both on the same flight from San Jose to Denver in December of his final year at Stanford and I had the opportunity to talk with him a bit. He came across as a great guy.

Kyle Stowers did it again, this time throwing out Giants’ JH Lee at home in the bottom of the ninth to save the game for the Marlins, who went on to win in the 10th inning. Stowers also went 2 for 4 with a run scored.
Only a fool would try to score on Stowers! (or Steven Kwan).

Palisch transferred to Texas AM for his senior year, 2022.
It was a decent season for him, most innings pitched in his college career and second best ERA but no starts.
I thought he would have been in line to be Stanford's 3rd or 4th (weekday) starter had he stayed but it probably didn't have a big effect on our season. That was the second of our three seasons in a row going to Omaha - the one where Alex Williams starred but fell apart the last couple of games.
Interestingly, on the official site, Palisch's stats page also lists his Texas AM season.

Another day, another Stowers highlight, this time a titanic rocket of a 3-run homer that went 440 feet, the farthest of his career per mlb.com, with 110 mph exit velocity!
The Marlins won and swept the SFG. Stowers' 12th HR of the season, which is more than in all of his previous MLB seasons combined.

I don't recall much of Stowers' career at Stanford, but he was definitely impressive this week. Maybe it's his series of the season, but too bad he wasn't on paternity leave.

Edman made the 2nd round ballot for starting 2B for NL All-Star team. He came in 2nd in first round balloting behind Marte.

Slater starting in RF and batting second for the White Sox vs. Giants today. He struck out in the first, but made up for it by robbing Jung Hoo Lee of extra bases (and maybe a home run) in the second inning. Slater went 1 for 4.

Edman finished second in the NL All Star balloting at 2b, behind Marte. Not sure if that guarantees his selection to the roster?
