RE: 2025 Men's Water Polo - Nobadeer - 12-05-2025

And LSJU wins, 15-9 after going up 12-5 in the third quarter! Never seriously threatened in the second half.

Now comes the harder part. First, beat Ucla tomorrow afternoon.

RE: 2025 Men's Water Polo - M T - 12-05-2025

The last 4 minutes and the opponent’s goals were all keep-away by Stanford with no attempt to play offense or even get the ball anywhere near the goal. That’s why it was as close as it was. I presume that happened in the UCLA 14-11 game

RE: 2025 Men's Water Polo - Nobadeer - 12-05-2025

Yes, Ucla led Princeton by 11-5 in the third. Yet, earlier this season Ucla beat Princeton by 23-10.

So you're telling me there's a chance . . .

RE: 2025 Men's Water Polo - M T - 12-06-2025

Saturday’s game vs UCLA is at 4pm.  (USC vs Fordham at 2pm)
At GoStanford, the only tickets I saw were $80 all tourney pass.

You can stream the match for free at

(The WVB game is at 6pm. This game should be finished at 5:15 so parking should start freeing up)

RE: 2025 Men's Water Polo - BostonCard - 12-06-2025

Not surprisingly, USC won its bye against Fordham 16-7.  Game on in 5 minutes.

Ah darn, UCLA wins 8-7 - Bruins were tough in the middle down the stretch

Edit 9-7 - looks like they counted that last second empty goal score after all

RE: 2025 Men's Water Polo - Nobadeer - 12-06-2025

Large loud Avery crowd and great game, until the last couple minutes. Questionable exclusion in my view led to the go ahead Ucla goal; the ref hadn't called any of the fouls on both teams' centers, until late 4th quarter, in a tie game??

Terrific defense by both teams too. So many blocked shots by defenders. LSJU must have had about 2 minutes of consecutive possession in the 4th quarter with fresh shot clocks after Ucla blocks went out of bounds, but could not convert. Not sure Balogh ever had a shot reach the goal, and even the all world Ryder Dodd had very few open looks.

Ucla vs. Usc tomorrow for the title. How about a 0-0 tie.

RE: 2025 Men's Water Polo - Spiny_Norman - 12-07-2025

UCLA scored at the final gun to win the national championship 11-10.

Here's some good transfer news for Stanford sports, at least in terms of quality players transferring in rather than out:

Thanks the links. I don't see reference to their incoming academic standing at Stanford, but anyway it shows that upperclassmen+ can transfer in, regardless of many of us bemoaning that it's nearly impossible.

Herzer initially enrolled at USC in 2022 and red shirted his first year so I would guess he has one year of eligibility remaining and is a grad transfer (maybe post-bacc)

Rozolis-Hill also appears to have initially enrolled at Harvard in 2022 so I would guess also a grad transfer

https://gocrimson.com/sports/mens-water-polo/roster/james-rozolis-hill/29085

he does not appear to have played for them in 2025 so likely one year of eligibility left.
