Anyone know who will be playing basketball for the men's side in 2026-27?

In terms of players with extensive experience, only Donavin Young and Aidan Cammann are returning, I think. Jeremy Dent-Smith, Jaylen Thompson, Ryan Agarwal and Oskar Giltay are in the transfer portal, so maybe they can return to Stanford if they don't find any better suitors? Per others on this thread, AJ Rohosy, Benny Gealer and Chisom Okpara are out of eligibility. Ebuka Okorie declared for the NBA draft, although I suppose there is a non-zero probability that he will return to Stanford.

We had a number of freshman from last year who did not play or played very little. I assume some of them redshirted. We have a number of incoming freshmen, the most famous being the one with the surname Olajuwon.

Anyone with any intel? I don't know of any incoming transfers, but at this point it seems that next season's team will be very young/inexperienced, and I have no idea how talented the untested players are.

I keep hearing about Oscar being in the portal but I haven't seen anything indicating that is the situation. His IG still says Stanford basketball and he is still on campus from what I can see.

Ooof, I hope it's not from lack of playing time because I thought he should see more. He did improve quite a bit, but more play equals more improvement...if you are any good.

I just don't see how Stanford can win in this environment anymore.  It's hard enough to get transfers in and yet they are still leaving in mass.

This statement is pretty much why I bumped the men's BB thread. It seems that the general sense among those who post on this board is that HC Kyle Smith is doing a good job. Yet, when all is said and done, isn't he still having challenges similar to what HC Paye is having on the women's side?

I acknowledge that it's too early to make a final judgment, given that there are a lot of quality transfers available and it may take Stanford longer to clear a player than other schools. 

FWIW, according to 247sports there are still four 5-stars and fourteen 4-stars available in the portal (Giltay was a 4-star as was Sellers last year), so maybe there's someone in that group we can grab. Thinking with my brain instead of my heart, Jeremy Dent-Smith was a 0-star transfer and definitely contributed--before he transferred out. Perhaps HC Smith has his eyes on some unknown treasures.

If I were a betting man, I'd put my money on HC Smith over HC Paye, but it's still long odds either way IMO.

Well - good luck to him but a head scratcher of a choice for sure, BB-wise.  Also, as one of the commentors - guessing a kal fan - noted, "How’s stanf(o)rd going to replace 6 points and 4 boards a game?" + between the returning- and incoming players, SF/Wing isn't our greatest need.

One is a 7'1" incoming junior whom KAS expects to replace Oscar (who KAS said never really "bought in" and whom he thinks they will not be sad to have lost). The second one is a player we recruited out of HS and went to a high P4 school "where he maybe got in over his head" and would get more playing time at Stanford. He thinks both are a great fit and very bought in on Stanford.

And they still think there's a chance Okorie could come back. KAS could not speak more positively about him, his family, and his commitment to Stanford, but was simultaneously extremely encouraging of Okorie checking out his prospects in the NBA.

Wow, cool. Any further insight into what exactly Coach Smith is asking them to buy into?  I can only speculate that it is a focus on ball control and defense.  Which makes it all the more incredible how much scoring Okorie did this season.

Smith is very impressive. He has analyzed what he has to sell at Stanford and is doing it. When he talks of “buy in” it’s not to a style of play or an offense but to Stanford. He thinks Stanford offers an exceptional opportunity for kids and “I don’t  have a lot of time” for recruits who don’t want that. Another thing he was strong on, is that players need to accept responsibility for their own careers. I took that to  mean that no ome  is guaranteed playing time . The staff and Stanford have to support a players desires and career hopes but the player remains responsible for playing well enough to get on the floor.  

Parenthetically, Smith discussed each departing player and sensed why they left and whether it was a loss for the program. I suspect he is very clear with players about what they have to do to play at  Stanford and to be at Stanford . He understands that there is not always a fit and that is part of the new college basketball reality.  

My summary doesn’t do Smith justice. He was very sound. He will be successful and I feel good about the future of me s basketball.

I did not get  the same sense of understanding from Paye.  That may be communication skills or she may still be living in the Tara era and not facing the reality of “our” situation.  I’ll hope for the former,

Thanks your very interesting insight re Coach KS and our MBB program, and Coach KP and our WBB program.
Re our WBB program, in spite of all the setbacks and disappointments, I'm not surprised Coach KP is back for another season.
Her supporters could even point out her team's overall performance was at least as good as, if not better than, the MBB team.
However, that doesn't match my overall simplified perception, that Coach KS has been doing more with less, and Coach KP has more like been doing less with more.
