We love James Keefe because he gives it his all. But, it seems to me that the offense is much more fluid with Raynaud. Throwing a pass to Keefe at the free throw line is a useless move. Opponents know he won't do anything from there, so they glue to their man. Plus, on defense, Raynaud pretty much neutralized 7 footer Carlson.

My hope last year was that Raynaud would become as good as Nasty. Now, I think he can be better than Stefan.

Great road win against a quality opponent. Sadly, this level of play is too little, too late. The bar was making the dance, and at this point their only chance of doing so is to win the conference tournament.

I will never root for the team to lose but it would be classic Stanford if they win just enough down the stretch that Muir doesn't pull the plug. Haase needs to be gone regardless of what happens from here. That said, it's nice that our annual good start then late-season collapse may actually be reversed this year.
I think the home game against Arizona and the away game against USC will be tougher than tonight's game. I'd love to be wrong about that, though. Also, let's say they somehow go 2-1 during that tough stretch against Arizona, UCLA and USC, and win out against everyone else. That would mean they finished the conference season at 12-8, the regular season at 19-12, and completed a remarkable 13-1 stretch. If they were to win two games in the conference tournament, they would finish with 21 wins and have an 8-2 record in their last ten games. That's definitely worth an NIT bid and worth consideration for an NCAA bid at the very least. Do we still let Haase go and have the team start all over again with a new coach? I'd say, "No". Don't wait another 7 years for the next postseason bid, but don't seek a change when we finally get to where we want to be, either.
Of course, I'd STILL want to get rid of Muir.
It's an unlikely hypothetical, but none of that remotely merits keeping Haase. He should be gone without a second's further thought. 6.5 years of poor coaching, late-season collapses, underperforming with his talent and losing the locker room multiple times doesn't wash away a nice little flourish at the end of year 7. And, yes, Muir should also go regardless.

But as you correctly point out,
He has a glaring weakness of crappy dribbling and not great jump shooter
So exactly as you say, passing to him wide open at top of key is actually a totally useless move
It often kills the play

Night and day difference between Keefe and Raynaud offensively. Raynaud seems quite comfortable actually putting the ball on the floor and making a move to the basket. The defense has to pay attention to him so it helps our other guys get open. Playing 4 on 5 offensively makes the game tougher. Keefe's offense is from close to the basket and I don't think he has anything on Raynaud in this regard either.
One big plus for Keefe is his willing to run the floor. MOC is showing he wants to push the ball whenever he gets it in his hands. We need more guys getting out and running, and Keefe is one who seems to love to do it.

I think that Raynaud is a bit of better coaching away form being a genuine star. He can shoot, he is surprisingly fast and agile for a big guy (though Haase asks him to drive WAY too often), he's athletic. He's averaging 8 points and 6 rebounds a game this season. That could easily be more like 14 and 9 if we used him better. That would mean getting him touches in isolation in the paint, running pick and rolls with him as the roll guy, etc. We should have a bunch of designed plays* for him and run them every game. Even if Raynaud can't finish, getting him more touches inside will draw in the defense and might result in some more open outside shots, something that we often struggle to generate. It's win-win.
*of course, designed plays are the antithesis of Haaseketball, so I don't expect anything to improve until we have a new coach.

Ingram is an excellent passer--that would be a great play.
I've seen the occasional screen and roll with Angel as the roll guy. Angel is a good scorer inside, but let's do that with our 7-foot guy instead.

Fun game. We clamped down on defense some towards the end of the half. We've scored a bunch of points on -- wait for it -- well-designed inbounds plays.
If not for some very hot shooting by Baby Oscar Da Silva (that's what I call his brother), we might be winning by a good bit.
Spoke too soon. Disastrous 13-0 Colorado run to start the second. We're back to Haaseketball: turnovers, bad shots, missed shots. Ugly.
