Actually Fairchild came from NY state but certainly developed as the semiconductor producer in Silicon Valley

Mets come back from 8-2, Giants then come back from 11-8 and 12-11 to win it in the bottom of the ninth.

Rogers has been a major piece of the pen for a couple years. If they had a major league level third baseman he gets out of that inning practically unscathed. He will recover. And he a key piece again. But yes, he’s not as good as his twin.

All the injuries makes you wonder going forward. The Giants have to get younger. Belt can’t play a full season and neither can Longoria. Every time LaStella runs to first I expect him to pull up. Giants have promoted Harrison and Armani Smith from Eugene to Richmond. Most of the “comers” are a couple of years away.
I disagree with DC and his pals, the GM’s he talks to all the time, that there is little value to be had by July 31 or whatever the f*** trading deadline is. Not great value but perhaps somebody better than Kevin Padlo or Seymore Fairchild the Fifth.

Their numbers aren't all that far apart. The Giants' Tyler Rogers has a better win/loss record (12-5 vs. 17-18), but Taylor has a better career ERA (2.99 to 3.13) and a better career WHIP (1.123 vs. 1.148). Taylor makes $7.3 million, Tyler makes $730k.

That trade of Dubie for Pierpinski doesn't look so good now. He played third better than the Andy Pafko pretender, and he was pretty good in center so no need for Fairchild, whoever he is, and he was a pretty good sub for Crawford instead of whomever.

Numbers, as often is the case, don’t tell the whole story. Taylor is a left handed closer with plus stuff. Tyler gets by on guile and deception. His value is that he can handle a lot of innings. I think he was in 80 games last year. Which was at the top of all relievers. I like Tyler. But Taylor is better.

Problem is - he had no options left. So he was going to be DFA’d.

Put him or Listella or ?? on the 10 day dl and wait for the real dl which we know is going to happen with this team. He was way more valuable than these replacements.

LaStella was coming off the IL. That is why Dubon was going to be DFA’d. However, SF found a willing trade partner to take him off their hands for a catcher who was needed in case of an injury since they had no one else in the organization capable of playing C at the big league level. Given Casali’s concussion, I think Zaidi was, once again, ahead of the curve.
Dubon (.236/.241/.382) is a good guy but he is not as good a player as LaStella (.304/.333/.696).

I agree with everything you said, but come on, you can't declare LaStella a better player (although he is) based on his 23 at-bats this season.

LaStella is obviously a better hitter at this point, but he can't play much on defense because he still has achilles problem. And, he's always an injury waiting to happen. Dubon could play at least 4 positions well enuf to be on the roster for roster flexibility. Fairchild? Andy Pafko wannabe? Pierstill waiting for his first hit? I still think Dubie is more valuable than an egg shell Latella. Maybe "Donnie" can do some of what Dubon did.

Pafko was a helluva player. Plus he was #1 in the famous Topps '52 set featuring the Mantle rookie card which was in the four released subset. Unfortunately it was not shipped to the West Coast and released in low numbers (along with the Matthews rookie) making it rare and now so valuable.
The Mantle '53 and the Mays '53 are highlights of that set and very valuable.
