Go Lindy! While I suspect that Kate Paye will be our next head coach when Tara retires, Lindy looks like she would be a good choice too.
I do have to say, however, that Lindy was lousy at the chalk talks! Kate used to be terrible too, but she has improved a lot over the years and the last few sessions have been somewhat insightful. Talking to fans turns out to be a learned skill for coaches.
I should also add that Tara shows no signs of slowing down, and I hope she keeps coaching for another half decade or so. But she is about to turn 70.
Funny, I always came away from the Linday chalk talks wondering if she thought she was going to say something that got her hand slapped. Tempie didn't appear to put those same restrictions on herself. And Kate would give you the Pat Summit-like staredown if she didn't like the question you asked, but, yeah, she has been quite more relaxed this season (well, for Kate..."Don'taskmeanyquestionsabouthealthbecauseI'mnotgoingtoanswerthem!!!").
Meanwhile, in the Big West Conference Championship, Bird's dad coached CSU Bakersfield, the #10 seed, to a win over #1 seed UC Irvine. It's CSUB's third season in the BW, and their first trip to the NCAA tourney.

Nicole Powell coach of UC Riverside was 6-22 for the season vs Long Beach. Sadly Long Beach goes 23-8 in the 4th qtr so not to be

Congrats to in Lindy and UNLV, 71-60 over Wyoming, Mountain west champs. Now to see where they wind up in the Big Dance, hope it's not in the same bracket as the Card

Impressive.

Interesting watching Coach Lindy roaming the sidelines last night on the FUBO broadcast of the UNLV game. She seems to have a great personal relationship with her players to go along with her deep basketball knowledge. Also, nice to see JJ Hones and Jayne Appel on the sidelines supporting their former teammate so enthusiastically. Two straight Conference championships bode well for the former Cardinal.
In watching, I thought of another former Tara's protege who is following in her coaches footsteps, but was not mentioned when Cardboarders spoke of others— Assistant Basketball Coach Joslyn Tinkle at the University of Montana.

Jos is worth a second mention, though. She is such a fine person — just like her dad and family! My wife and I got to catch up with her in Spokane at last year's regional. She was excited about being back on the Missoula campus as a coach. And she was pleasantly available, she actually approached us! The quality of her as a person, and that of the other women athletes that we have seen play for Stanford, is the reason that we have supported the teams so whole heartedly over the years!

Apparently U.C. Riverside and Cal State Long Beach have quite a rivalry going. Per BobK, they played each other 28 times this season. Must be hard to work other teams into their schedules.

Other teams in the Pac 12 in action:
9am 7 Arizona vs. 10 West Virginia
4:30pm 2 Utah vs. 15 Gardiner-Webb
5 pm 8 USC vs. 9 South Dakota State
Then there are teams that might be in our future:
7 pm 8 Old Miss vs 9 Gonzaga
1pm 15 SE Louisiana vs 2 Iowa
And also Lindy's UNLV is in action:
12pm 6 Michigan vs 11 UNLV
