3-1 final. Miner had an 11-0 serving run to get us to match point (including two aces). Final 25-8 in the third set. Francis and Harvey both hit over .400. Kurt led with 15 kills.

Long time VB fans may remember Tara Conrad (Cooling). She was a senior MB on the 2001 championship team.
I believe that is who I saw talking with Lisa Sharpley Vanacht before the match.
Boston College took the first set off Pitt tonight. The first set Pitt has lost this season.
Though Pitt came back to crush them in the 2nd and 3rd sets, and won the 4, too.

No mention of Harvey who had a great game probably her best ever.
I sit right behind the first Stanford bench watched Pringle for anticipation and was impressed. She played great. Not quite Oligive who was outstanding
Julia suited up but not ready yet

Basically unwatchable due to the broadcast. No score and no sound is absurd. I’d fire a high school media director for this level of production value.
Finally made it to where the audio comes on. At least I know the score now some of the time.
The last women soccer watched had the female announcer three tines as loud as the guy for the first 30 min. And that wasn’t close to the worst broadcast of the year. The ACCN is just dreadful.

Just finished watching the replay. That fourth set should go into the dictionary as a definition of "dominance." Miner's serving was a sight to behold. Will post the match by Sunday morning with any luck.

Sarah Hickman, 6'5", 2026, left handed; ranked around #10 in her class by some ranking websites.

"Leading the way for Stratford this season is six-foot-five junior Sarah Hickman, who has committed to play college volleyball at Stanford University. “Sarah not only leads our team kills and aces, but she’s playing in six rotations in both the front and back rows,” said Adcock."

Stratford High in the Houston area. Same HS as Andrew Luck!

It was a great demonstration of the effectiveness of good serving:
NC State made only
one high-quality pass out of Miner's 12 serves in a row. Two were right on the 10-foot line. One was too close to the net and Stanford won the joust, and none of the other 8 passes (which included 2 aces) even made it up to the 10-foot line. And the point that ended the run was because of a net violation on us.

AVCA putting Stanford at #5 in the pre-season poll is very generous IMO based on what they lost to graduation.
On 10/2 you quote a post of mine from 8/25 prior to the season. I have no idea what your point is. If you have an evaluation of Stanford or other teams that differs from mine, why don't you just present it in a straightforward manner.

Two interesting matches today:
Texas at Florida 10:00am PT on ESPN.
Georgia Tech vs Louisville 10:30am PT on ACCN.
Wake Forest at Stanford today 1:00pm PT livestreamed on ACCNX. Wake Forest is 10-4 including a 3-0 win against Cal on Friday. Stanford will be Wake Forest's first ranked opponent this season.

Was looking for today's tickets in Apple Wallet on my iPhone, and they were not showing up.
Discovered they were listed as expired - I had to "unhide" them.
First time I've had that happen.

Not sure a half empty football stadium is a good selling feature although I think Stanford WVB recruits are probably more interested in hanging out together than what is happening around them. Also I assume these are 2025 recruits/commits who have already made a firm decision where they will be attending college.

Stanford up 18-11. Hambly challenge accepted. 19-10.
Miner to Francis connection looking pretty good as season progresses.
Set 1: Stanford wins 25-16. Wake Forest can play better but I don't think they have enough on the court to win the match.
Cawa looks to be solidifying DS role.
