RE: 2022 Giants thread - cardcrimson - 05-30-2022

Had the game on in the background today, as I was in and out. Jon Miller shared a pretty poignant story on Memorial Day that I happened to catch. Apparently his dad was a navigator on a bomber in the Korean War, flew 60 some missions, was always shot at, and shot down once and survived. On his way home, his transport crashed in the Azores and he was killed. Jon was one and a half at the time. He never knew his father, but learned a lot about him as he grew up. . . .

Thanks to all who served, and whose family served. Such sacrifices, and all truly appreciated.

Wow. Happened to my uncle. Many combat missions in the ETO. Caught an ATC flight home in
late ‘45 and crashed into the Atlantic, we think. Never knew him.

My mom's brother survived the war in Europe, and died in a stateside car accident on the way home. Have his blue star flag tucked away somewhere. . . .

Wow very very sad stories.
My dad wounded in the battle of the budge but not badly and lived a long life. My godfather killed in the battle of the budge.
I came thru fine and here I am Mr Lucky

RE: 2022 Giants thread - Phogge - 05-30-2022

Mr. Lucky in the movies was Cary Grant. Another handsome guy on TV.

Sorry Bobbbbbbbbbb, got you pegged as Elisha Cook. Look him up.

RE: 2022 Giants thread - BobK - 05-30-2022

I certainly know who Elisha Cook is lol

One word, Phogge….

Gunsel

RE: 2022 Giants thread - Phogge - 05-31-2022

Hey Bobbbbbb and Giants... my Hollywood dad “dated” Mary Astor. He joked that she was, “What dreams are made of.”

Kyle Harrison first start for Richmond: 5.2, 6 hits, 2 ER, 1 BB, 9 K.

RE: 2022 Giants thread - BobK - 05-31-2022

My mom dated Gerald Mayer son of Jerry while at Stanford

RE: 2022 Giants thread - CowboyIndian - 05-31-2022

I dated Mary Ann Cotterall in high School. But none of you guys know her.

RE: 2022 Giants thread - Phogge - 05-31-2022

Sure I do CI. Wasn’t she in Gilligan’s Island?

RE: 2022 Giants thread - Mick - 05-31-2022

My aunt went to high school with Suzanne Somers. Said she was quiet, artistic, and very nice.

My best friend dated Kim Cattrall a couple of times.  Said she was nice, but 100% committed to her art/job/craft, whatever you want to call it.  And maybe just the teensiest bit narcissistic...rare among Hollywood types, I know.

RE: 2022 Giants thread - Phogge - 05-31-2022

If you have 101-102 you need to throw it more than once in three at bats.

LaStella looked like he never picked up the third base coach and why was he running when he has crystal legs?

RE: 2022 Giants thread - BobK - 05-31-2022

I don’t think we had any position players left. And pitchers well you know are so fragile lol lol
But the Jocser may have solved the problem. Bottom of 11 now

Yup, Joc solved that problem all right.  7-4 victory.  It's the third in a row and the third come-from-behind victory in a row.  They're still six behind the Dodgers and 2.5 behind the Padres.  1/2 game out in the wild card race, right behind the Cardinals.

RE: 2022 Giants thread - Phogge - 05-31-2022

I think Bobbbbbb dated Jane Russell. He was between Howard Hughes and Bob Waterfield.

RE: 2022 Giants thread - Giants - 05-31-2022

There are three wild cards this year.  SF is five up in the loss column on AZ and Colorado.

And it only took 5 hours!  Pitch clock, please.  Phogge, you are right about Doval.  Don’t understand why he is so hesitant to throw a 100 mph fastball with movement.

More injuries - Longo. Shoulder. Maybe best thing in game was McGee hitting 98.  He looked terrific, was the POY when you get right down to it.  But it happened 2 1/2 hours earlier. So, everyone forgot….

Hopefully someone has taught Familia how to tie his shoes.

Bizarre game.

RE: 2022 Giants thread - BobK - 06-01-2022

Watching college baseball with a pitch clock wow so much better than MLB
I know Union won’t agree

Of course last weekend with a Stanford game the plate umpire was over ruled because the clock started too soon.

RE: 2022 Giants thread - Giants - 06-01-2022

A pitch clock is coming.

The new CBA includes language regarding the establishment of a Rules Committee that will be charged with developing changes that address issues like the pitch clock, shifts and larger bases.

Since the committee will be comprised of six individuals selected by MLB, four players and an umpire, the deck is stacked towards implementing what the Commissioner wants regardless of how the players feel.
