Yes but Hannah Jump started the comeback......

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Gonzaga 1pm Sunday - Lorcan - 11-21-2021

Prechtel and Jump leading the charge back. They combined for a 14-2 run to end the half, with four threes and a nice floater from Jump. I really don’t know why we don’t try Van Gytenbeek when Lacie is clearly struggling.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Gonzaga 1pm Sunday - TheFarm07 - 11-21-2021

Despite all the troubles (Jones out, Brink in foul trouble, turnovers, PG issues), we are only down by three thanks to a couple clutch three pointers by Prechtel.

We really need Brink to stay in control and not get additional fouls with Jones out in the second half. We are shooting 50% from the floor, but the difference in this game is due to 10 FT opportunities (9 made) by Gonzaga. We need to do a better job of defending without fouling.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Gonzaga 1pm Sunday - 81alum - 11-21-2021

If we should somehow win this game, credit will first go to Jump, who came in and made 2 treys and a floater in a row to stop the bleeding when we were behind 15, and the Prechtel finding her range for two more treys.

The offense works so much better when we hit a few treys.

The defense was better in the second quarter than the first, too, cutting them from 23 points to 12.

It is my fervent hope that the 1st quarter was an aberration based on nerves and tight shooting.  However, Gonzaga is clearly an excellent team. We cannot afford either the 3rd or 4th quarters to resemble the first.

Jump is hard to guard at times.  Stands a mile away from the basket.  Gets the ball and instantly shoots.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Gonzaga 1pm Sunday - M T - 11-21-2021

Interesting.  For the first half, in +/-, Belibi is -11, while leading with 10 points, 3 rebounds.

Indeed.  Tara is obviously a great coach, but this team is not going to succeed with Lacie at pg and this is the time Tara should be figuring it out.  You can't have three low scorers starting every game together (Wilson and the Hulls). We need some points and we need Jana to be given a choice to lead an offense.

Pretty much nothing written after this matters unless you think you are a better coach and you know this team's players better than Tara.  I say, enjoy the ride and have faith in the best coach in college basketball.

SWX started  up at 2PM, with the live(sorta) halftime.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Gonzaga 1pm Sunday - 81alum - 11-21-2021

The original feed is now working.  The WCC link is still on break.

What a confusing TV feed, poorly publicized.

We're back on top.  Lead by 2.  Now let's stretch it out.

It looked to me like Brink got away with a foul. But on a livestream I'll defer to the officials.

She definitely got away with it, a good break for us.

We're up by 3 at the end of the 3rd.  We had a 6 point lead at one point.

I had to mute the audio on the feed.  The announcers are just too irritating.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. Gonzaga 1pm Sunday - 81alum - 11-21-2021

An 18-12 3rd quarter has us up 50-47 now.

But that is a very close margin, on the road in front of a packed house.  Those fans will try to will Gonzaga to the finish line.

I think we need a strong start and to expand our lead from the very beginning.  If Gonzaga gets the lead back, all the intangibles are on their side to keep it.

The start of the 4th quarter is crucial for us.

Both are major homers.

We all have the exact same view of players during games as Tara does.  So, we all have every right to have an opinion on how players perform in games.  Practices obviously aren't something we are privy to.  That being said, a player can play great in practice and poorly on the court.  When that happens, you need a new plan.

Also, even as a die hard Stanford fan, calling Tara the best coach in college basketball is a stretch.  Certainly one of the best and an incredible career, but pretty sure 99 out of 100 would give that honor to Geno.

Too many fouls, 17.

Sure.

My livestream stuck on commercial break.
