RE: WBB: Stanford vs. UCLA Friday 6pm - Madera86 - 03-03-2023

Now THAT is total BS.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. UCLA Friday 6pm - BosCard - 03-03-2023

Brink was fouled.  Refs are idiots.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. UCLA Friday 6pm - mbdude - 03-03-2023

And no offense, 8 fgs in 2nd half!

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. UCLA Friday 6pm - PVTree - 03-03-2023

Why was the clock reset?

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. UCLA Friday 6pm - MV72018 - 03-03-2023

Quite the collapse by Stanford in Q4. Better wake up quickly, only 33 seconds left.

Another poor O performance by Haley Jones: 5 for 15 a moment ago. Hard to win when your # 2 scorer is shooting a dismal 33%.

leftcoast - Leftcoast - 03-03-2023

Stanford is playing tight - someone needs to take charge and own the moment

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. UCLA Friday 6pm - BosCard - 03-03-2023

And Jones was fouled on the rebound

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. UCLA Friday 6pm - mbdude - 03-03-2023

Jump doesn't block out

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. UCLA Friday 6pm - martyup - 03-03-2023

We gave up 27 29 points to UCLA in the 4th.  We're no longer a #1 seed in the NCAA tourney.

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. UCLA Friday 6pm - mbdude - 03-03-2023

I wish we could pick a lineup with offense and stay with it
Our  "defensive " lineup doesn't seem to cut it

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. UCLA Friday 6pm - PVTree - 03-03-2023

BS call.... That was a carry!

We couged this. 10 point lead going into the 4th, and we get beat.

We go into offensive funks way too often.

We didn’t play well in the second half but the refs handed the game to UCLA.  SO MANY MISSED calls. But we are probably appropriately a 2-seed this year.  Disappointing

Can the refs be worse? Not to say the loss is their fault.

Haley was great in the first half, not so much in the second. I especially didn't like the late possession where she dribbled out most of the shot clock and then gave it to Cam who could only drive to the basket and get stopped.

What an absolute disaster of a fourth quarter and and we lose a game we had no business of losing. Our team just doesn't have that moxy or will to win. It's evident and been on display all year in games we've dropped. Why should we expect it to just on turn on now. So disappointing on so many levels. We were up 16 in the second half and just collapsed.

Congrats to UCLA and Kiki Rice, who had a tremendous game.

it will be interesting to hear Tara's take - other than stating UCla wanted it more, they played harder, etc

RE: WBB: Stanford vs. UCLA Friday 6pm - 81alum - 03-03-2023

Well, our meltdown in the 4th quarter was ugly.  And perhaps that was enough to say we deserved to lose.  But three absolutely terrible officiating calls sealed the deal.  1) Rice touched the ball last and yet UCLA was awarded the ball.  2) Why was the clock reset to 30 seconds after the tie-up?  The only way that happens is if they thought Cam really had possession before the tie up, and if she did, Haley was calling time out.  3) The UCLA player carried the ball and then we fouled her, but no carry call.  If any of those three go our way, perhaps we recover from our lousy fourth quarter.

Well, the silver lining...I don't need to rush to prepare a preview for the championship game.

UCLA played us very close in the other two games, and it is hard to beat the same team three times when you are relatively evenly matched.

Now, I wonder if anyone from the Pac 12 gets a 1 seed.  We did not look like we deserved it, tonight.

The tournament will decide this season.  Either we will redeem ourselves and get to the Final Four or more.  Or we will lose in the Sweet Sixteen and it will be a toilet bowl season relative to the potential of this team.

I'll say it--the loss was the fault of the Pac-12 refs. Any time they could ignore Stanford players getting fouled, they did. Reset the clock after a bogus jump ball call? Check. UCLA flops? Whistle. Ball out off of Rice? Give it to Ucla. Etc., etc.

I could not have been more proud of our team this year than in this game. They came out focused, played hard, etc., as well as I've seen (at least up there with the South Carolina game). But, no. Pac-12 gonna Pac-12.

Excuse me while I go cancel my Sling subscription.

Haley was great in the first half, not so much in the second. I especially didn't like the late possession where she dribbled out most of the shot clock and then gave it to Cam who could only drive to the basket and get stopped.

Again Haley continues to log an unnecessary amount of minutes and that is reflected in her poor shooting stats this year. When you are rested, you can overcome most deficits in the 4th. When you are tired, it’s difficult to hold on to any lead. There was plenty of time to rest her when they were up 16 pts. Tara refuses to do so. Haley didn’t block out Sontag on Brink’s rebound. Haley’s shots were flat and short. Haley couldn’t grab the rebound on Rice’s miss, but also Brooke should have never been in the first position on the free throw line if you are desperate for a miss and to secure a rebound. So I will lay this at the feet of the coaches.

I always thought Stanford was damn lucky in 2021 when Haley got in foul trouble and sat most of the 2nd quarter vs S. Carolina and Arizona because who had legs in the 4th quarter to secure 1pt wins in each? Now, not even foul trouble will allow Haley to sit and rest anymore.

And ALSO this is Hannah’s second scoreless game vs UCLA? At least last time at Maples, she rebounded and got a few turnovers.

And Tara was still running plays for her in the 4th that had no secondary option? Blame the coaches not the refs. 16 pt lead that could have been stretched to 20 many times? Here comes a sub.
