Is it ok to say I've seen enuf of Verlander. A's so far 6 hits, and 5 runs in 2 innings. He has a couple strikeouts, but insists on throwing high, lazy sliders that go boom.

Kudos to Kris Bubic (103 IP, 2.36 ERA, 107 Ks, allowed only 86 hits) and Kyle Stowers (.280 avg, 16 HR, 13 doubles, 46 RBI, .994 fielding pct). First time all stars.
Tommy Edman (10 HR, 13 doubles, 38 RBI, .995 fielding pct) and Nico Hoerner (.282, 3 HR, 17 doubles, 36 RBI, 16 steals, .994 fielding pct) were not named to the NL roster.

I think Tony and Nico were casualties of having too many all-star teammates. If they were their respective team's second all-star, they would have been named.

As reported in the SFGiants thread, Beck returned from AAA and threw a scoreless 8th inning last night, in the Andrew Bailey walk-off ITP HR game.
Today, Beck again entered in the 8th inning, faced 7 Phillies batters, gave up hits to the first five, then a sac fly, then a walk. Not his best outing.

Career day for Stowers, 3 HR, 6 RBI! He heads to the all star game with 19 HR and 54 RBI.
Then there's Tommy Edman, who ended the first half on what is probably a career worst 7 for 62 slide, with just 1 RBI in those 62 at bats. Sadly for us SFG fans, that lone RBI was in yesterday's Dodgers win.

Another big game for Kyle Stowers - 3 for 5, 2 HRs, 5 RBIs, walk-off 2-run HR in the bottom of the 10th. Set a Marlins record with 5 HRs in 2 games. Now batting .298/.371/.563.

Stowers also homered once in the all star game, extra innings mini-HR derby.
Bubic didn't have a sparkling all star outing, gave up a 3-run HR to Pete Alonso.

Bubic literally and figuratively sweating it out in KC right now. Walked the first 4 Cleveland batters of the game. Ended up giving up 3 run on 43 pitches in the first on a hot and humid night.

That's really cool. Slater just annihilates LHPs... his line vs. lefties this year is .261/.338/.522/.859. He has 5 HRs in 69 ABs against lefties and 0 HRs in 54 ABs against righties. And Slater's best role is batting leadoff. Four of the five HRs came leading off, and his OBP is .588 batting leadoff.

A grand slam on Friday night vs. Yankees, and so far today, a 3-run HR and a sac fly. He now has 25 HR, 71 RBI, .297 batting avg.
