With two freshmen starting early and one setter transfer there is much to be excited about seeing how things are shaping up early on.  I really want to see what Wagner can do.

Have the two new assistants moved yet to the area and on campus doing stuff?

Hambly just doesn't seem to be interested in having spectators at a spring scrimmage. I wish he would, but I don't expect it will happen.

The two new assistants have SUNet IDs and email addresses in the directory.

Prepvolleyball.com just came out with their updated rankings for 2028 class.   OPP Megan Hodges is #2.  Does anyone know if Hambly is recruiting her? She will be getting Mega Money offers from schools so it would be a long shot but one can dream.

Any word about Tessa Larkin (2027 top 10 ranked OH)?  I just checked her Instagram.  She is no longer following Stanfordwvb and GoStanford accounts.  The Stanford account is still there.  Does that mean anything?

I just checked her Instagram and she is still following the Stanfordwvb page. She also follows a lot of wvb players from Stanford. Same can said for Nebraska though..

Thanks cardfan77.

Erika Sayer is in a boot on her latest Instagram post.    I don't know if it was an off season surgery or she injured herself recently.

No boot tonight at the banquet.

How was the Banquet? Our fav event but in Santa Barbara for SBIFF so missed this year.

Banquet was great fun as always. Great meeting the brand new in January women Hickman, Andrews and Wagner and Coach Brower
The speeches by each player were all outstanding especially by the two Srs Rubin and Pringle

I agree.  Though it is Coach (Whitney) Bower.  She was very personable, and talked about playing on the Atlanta Vibe pro team with Morgan Hentz.

Learned that Lilly Wagner, the transfer, who is from Wisconsin, is also a Packers fan.

Maybe this should be in a separate thread, but here is a NYTimes article about the pro VB leagues in the US:

https://www.nytimes.com/2026/02/08/business/womens-volleyball-league-pfv-lovb.html

It mentions Morgan Hentz (and has a picture that includes a picture of Caitie Baird).

RE: 2026 Women’s Volleyball - paloalto - 02-09-2026

A lot of hype in that article.  I predict in five years there will be one professional volleyball league in the US if that.  Volleyball, outside of college, just isn't a spectator sport in this country.  Even I have no interest in the pro game.  I just can't get any kind of emotional involvement with a team.

Professional beach volleyball has been struggling for decades and making very little progress.  US Pro beach volleyball is still the only "professional" sport that is free to spectators for the majority of matches played in a tournament.

Speaking of pro VB, the Grand Rapids Rise just traded Elena Oglivie (and a draft pick) to the Omaha Supernovas for Morgan Hentz.

So Hentz went from Atlanta to Omaha to now Grand Rapids.  That's a good trend if you like cold weather.

LOL - OTOH, the first thing that came to mind when I saw the change in locations for Oglivie was, "Well, at least she can get better BBQ in Omaha...."

RE: 2026 Women’s Volleyball - Papa John - 02-14-2026

That's my former neck of the woods, and I've been to Omaha a few times. Their claim to fame is beef and inventing the Reuben sandwich (allegedly). For the best BBQ in the region, Elena can drive three hours to Kansas City.

RE: 2026 Women’s Volleyball - paloalto - 02-16-2026

Hanna McGinest, fairly high ranked 2027 OH, still uncommitted eight months after offers went out.  Any chance she is looking at Stanford?  Haven't heard anything about Stanford recruiting her.  Stanford doesn't need an OH in 2027 unless Kurt and Blyashov decide to play pro rather than staying an additional year.

I assume “rolling back-row subs” means between points not during a point. It’s not written very well though; so I could be wrong.

And yes I am being a bit of a wise guy, but the smaller descriptive text is actually even worse.

The footnote says “* Proposed/fictional rules for illustration”

I think this was meant to have come out on April 1.

Tessa Larkin (2027 OH), uncommitted and rumored Stanford prospect, is currently ranked nationally #4 by PrepDig.

She is one of two players so far getting an invite to the UA Next All American match in January 2027.   There are a multitude of 2027 players that have been evaluated by UA but only two have direct invites thus far.
