I suspect Giants will elevate Erik Miller into Tyler Rogers' old role, and Borucki and Matt Gage become the situational lefties.
Speaking of, Tyler Rogers has a 3.86 ERA in seven innings. 7 strikeouts, no walks, 1.14 WHIP, .286 BAA.
Both the Rogers trade as well as the Doval trade were great deals for SF. I think Tidwell and Rodriguez were great acquisitions.

Just for grins, I assembled the 240 position players likely to start in the field for the 30 MLB teams, and compiled their WAR by their 2025 totals. I did this because the Athletic's Jim Bowden ranked all 30 MLB's starting field lineups for 2026, and ranked the Giants #18. Here's the total of each team's starting eight based upon their 2025 WAR, per FanBase:

I don't disagree. And I ran the same calculation for pitching staffs, and the Giants only finished 23rd, 14th among starting staffs and close to last on relief pitching. The good news is that if there are upside surprises, they're more likely to come from relief pitching than anywhere else.
I'm going to stick with the 94 win guesstimate. This feels like 2021, and 94 wins would have tied them for the 3rd best overall record in 2025 beating the Dodgers by a game. The new manager will work wonders. Fielding will get much better. Lots of pitchers in a contract season. One of the best starting eights in MLB, and who knows about Eldridge?

Vitello is a real plus. His interviews to date are a refreshing change from the empty rhetoric of Melvin. With the support system that Posey has built around him (in particular, Bochy and Baker), I think he will be very successful. I’m looking forward to a much more aggressive running game.
And the fielding should be better with Bader taking charge in the outfield and Washington coaching the IF.
I think the offensive keys are:
Adames playing well from the jump.
Devers playing as well as he is paid.
Eldridge earning a call-up and breaking out at the big league level.
Bailey hitting at a league average for catchers.
And the pitching keys:
Good health - Miller, Houser and Mahle must stay off the IL.
Walker returning to form.
One or two of the young guys must step up - McDonald is my candidate for the organizational pitcher most likely to have a breakout season.
Obviously, to hit all of these keys is tantamount to hitting the lottery; however, there is no reason to expect there will be more misses than hits.

I'm going to add to your list...I think these things need to happen:
1. Logan Webb has to be a true ace again, not merely good.
2. Robbie Ray has to be a real No. 2.
3. The Giants need at least two of Tyler Mahle, Adrian Houser, and Landen Roupp to be solid.
4. They have to survive the Hayden Birdsong loss without the rotation caving in.
5. Rafael Devers has to be the middle-of-the-order monster they traded for.
6. And Devers has to hold up physically while learning first base.
7. Willy Adames has to repeat the impact, not just the name value.
8. Matt Chapman has to stay on the field more consistently.
9. Luis Arraez has to change the shape of the lineup.
10. But Arraez cannot give it all back with the glove.
11. Jung Hoo Lee needs to become more than a pleasant everyday player.
12. Heliot Ramos has to prove 2024 and 2025 was real.
13. Patrick Bailey has to be at least playable offensively.
14. Harrison Bader has to make center field a real strength.
15. The bottom third of the order cannot be a sinkhole.
16. At least one young player (Susac, Harper, Encarnacion, Matos) has to beat expectations.
17. The bullpen has to stabilize faster than people expect.
18. Ryan Walker has to look like a reliable closer again.
19. They need to convert their underlying quality into actual wins.
20. They need to be better on the road and slightly better against good teams.
21. The new-manager transition has to work immediately.
22. Buster Posey’s “pitching and defense” vision actually has to show up on the field.
23. They have to win the games they’re supposed to win.
24. They need one more in-season move to matter.

Any thoughts on Luis Matos not making the cut with the follow-up that he is now "designated for assignment". That's a steep fall from grace for a farm-system favorite and the former Giants top position prospect. Perhaps he'll clear waivers but probably not.
For me: I trust in Posey and this makes it clear Matos is NOT one of his guys.
It's also interesting that hot-hitting Bryce Eldridge didn't make the cut but the decision is not a surprise. Give the young prospect more game time rather than pinch hitting and sitting behind Rafael Devers. Probably will be brought up later in the year.

After a rough opening night watching these Giants from the lower box last night, I'll add my prediction of 86 games. Logan was blown up for 5 in the second inning and our bats were just not there. Painful start despite a beautiful night at PacBell/Oracle with the entire country watching. Money talks in baseball...just ask the Dodgers and the Yankees.
