You know, that Legends Trophy. We used to have it.
From 2009 (Gerhart, Luck) to 2017 (B.Love) we owned them.
With Hogan and McCaff in the heart of it. Plus really good O'Lines

Probably about the same. I don't think he would have convinced the administration to make the necessary wholesale changes to keep us competitive.

In 132 seasons, this is surely the program's darkest moment.
On the bright side, by the end of the day, there's a pretty good chance last week's game will no longer be the second worst in program history.
2006 was pretty bleak.....
2006:
ND 31
Stanford 10
Nuff said...
2006, 1-11, one game where we scored more than 20, and we lost that one 35-34 to SJSU. We had to abandon TD cookies for first down cookies at the games as TD were few and far between (nine games with one or zero TDs).

back then we did not have four other cross country trips for conference games each season
as long as we're in the ACC adding another long road game to the schedule does not make sense.

NDAM is different. National TV -- and if we win, then major recruiting ripples with Catholic Feeder schools.
Like getting Kevin Hogan. And now Mike Mitchell from Riordan.
Plus lots of O-Line with 4.0 GPAs from Catholic Schools.

And, we would close about 10 of our Olympic sports

NDAM shifting to their second string kicker. First string guy is exhausted...
Domers 58, STAN 7. Over 600 yards of Offense by Irish. Put on an O-line clinic.
Five TDs rushing, and 3 passing.
Put an asterix on the ACC stat standings... " Has not played Stanford yet"

I'm guessing we set a Stanford team record for most points allowed in consecutive games.....if the score holds we'll have improved from last week (sarcasm) only losing by 51....

Meanwhile, Manning just threw a pick-six for OKLA, and Sooners go up 24-17 in Norman on #1TEX. 10min to play.
So, now if #2 GEOG falls at BAMA tonight -- a possibility, though I think Dawgs will win.
Well, then NDAM would vault to #1 baby

Is there really a consensus on this board that Stanford SHOULD spend "much more money" to attract better players out of the portal? There comes a point when doing so would be something we should be bloody ashamed of. Stanford is a world-class university in Silicon Valley, not the south or midwest, and, demographically and in terms of interests, its student body is far from what it used to be. Increasingly, students come to Stanford to learn CS, MS&E, EE, and a few other fields of engineering and how to create their own startups. Relatively few come to study the humanities, the social sciences (except for econ), and pre-med. Is such a student body really going to come out to Stanford football games the quite different student body used to? I doubt it. Trying to save Stanford football is like the Dutch boy putting his finger into a hole in the dyke to plug up a leak. The leaks are now proliferating and significant progress in recovering real competitiveness seems unlikely. At least we've got an excellent basketball coach and a pretty good team since Kyle arrived.
