I don’t ever recall such a run of pulls and tweaks…. Belt also, of course, but that’s a chronic knee issue.

DeSclafani recently pitched three shutout innings at Sacramento in a rehab start. He will be back very soon. Cobb will miss one more start. By the end of the month, SF should have their full starting rotation back on track (plus Junis upon his recovery).

Even after sweeping the Fodgers, the Giants still cling to a WC spot thanks to the Brewers taking the pipe lately, as the Braves have reeled off 11 straight W's.
The Giants held the Fodgers to 4 runs over 3 games and got their first shutout of the season on June 12. Every other team but the Giants and Rockies had at least 2 shutouts this year before yesterday. The Red Sox have 3 shutouts in their last 6 games. The Rockies now are the only team in MLB without at least one.
We are at the 60 game mark now, and a look at the NL suggests a 5-team race for 3 spots, unless you consider the D-Backs and Rockies contenders. The Giants have a relatively soft schedule the rest of the month.
Out of the Giants' next 7 series opponents, 6 have losing records and are a combined 179-238 (.429). Take out the Braves as the only winning team over that stretch, and the 6 are 145-211 (.407). The Phillies have a bit tougher road, but not by much. The Braves have a slightly tougher schedule over the next month than Phils, but the Brewers have it VERY rough. It will be very difficult for them to stay even in the #4 spot when July hits.
The Giants SHOULD hold down a WC spot on July 1 given the schedules of the WC contenders. If they don't, it will be time to sell.

Nah, just living in reality. Not even the biggest Giants homer expected a sweep over the Fodgers after dropping 2/3 at home to Rockies. I mean it hadn't happened in the last 5 years.
Across MLB - with the exception of the Yankees on pace to win 120 games, and A's on pace to be the worst in MLB - the teams seem to be all tightening up. Teams that sucked are now playing better. Strong teams are now sucking. This really struck me yesterday.

Heck, I expect the Giants to win every game. If you go into a game thinking you won’t win, you have already lost. Besides, the Giants are as good as any team in the game when they pitch and defend.

I’m quite confused by your post. I think SF is a serious contender for the Division title. They are the defending champions, why should anyone think they won’t repeat?
Forget all the WC nonsense - go for the title.

I don’t THINK they will repeat. But I certainly hope they do. Buehler injury is h.u.g.e. And Tatis now out until probably late July. Still, only about 60 games in. Pretty early…. Many ebbs and flows to come. It’s what is so wonderful about baseball.
If Giants can get relatively healthy, they can stay in the mix. Then comes the deadline. And we shall see. Maybe they can pick up another “Blockbuster.”

Giants on track to win 92...three games behind both Padres & Dodgers. 4th most runs scored in MLB, 5th most walks, way down the list on all extra base hits. In pitching, 19th best ERA, 18th best WHIP, 18th most strikeouts, 6th fewest walks. 14th best fielding percentage, 15th fewest errors, 20th in runs allowed per game, 27th in defensive efficiency (percentage of balls hit into fair play converted into outs) and 29th in Total Zone Total Fielding Runs Above Average, which combines four defensive metrics into a single (in SFG's case, devastating) defensive metric. So basically, we have eight Dr. Strangegloves in the field at any one time. Which isn't really that fair, Dick Stuart's career fielding percentage was .982 when league average was .990. Worst career fielder is probably Gary Sheffield, -18.4 dWAR. Started as a shortstop, quickly went to 3B, then banished to RF.

Gary Sheffield may have been a butcher in the field, but in my history of watching MLB no hitter facing the Giants ever put more fear into me than Sheffield. I can't say Tony Gwynn because he hit against everybody and wasn't a big power guy anyway.
I'm sure many Giants fans would say Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt would be their top boogeymen hitters.
