Moving on from the discussion of whether or not trolls really turn to stone, has anyone seen Alex Eschmeyer's Instagram post from yesterday about her freshman year? Adds a very different perspective to the narrative about the coaching and environment on the team. I'm interested in other fans' views on it. Sorry I am having trouble linking it, could someone post it for everyone to read? Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
Pete F.

Thanks for pointing to this. Interesting, thoughtful, informative. Meets my expectations for a Stanford student.

Yeah, wonder what she found attractive about Stanford that Lara didn't.
It sure wasn't playing time.

She talks about meeting people outside of athletics. She is a well rounded individual who clearly has integrated into the broader campus life.

Yeah - and, if I'm not mistaken, foreign athletes on F1 visas basically can't earn NIL $ other than passive income from endorsements, merchandise royalties, etc., which assumes such opportunities are cultivated and available. So if that was a consideration in this case, either such opportunities were limited, or then she left for (a) different reason(s), si como no?

I thought the same re: foreign athletes being on student visas and therefore not being able to receive NIL income, but now I'm not sure. People were saying Somfai was fetching near $1M offers from other schools, and I seem to remember someone saying Stanford offered her a good amount to stay. Also, there was that sponsorship of Hotel Citrine. Was Somfai not on a student visa? Or are there loopholes to paying international players?

Maxime returned from the portal for more than small change. He also enjoyed his time on the Farm alot.

Student-athletes on F-1 visas are indeed restricted in terms of NIL income, but there are many workarounds and other routes to receive NIL funds:
- some international student-athletes actually have permanent residency (green cards) or citizenship through a relative.
- some (particularly in individual sports) have O-1 or P-1 visas.
- most common workaround: work performed while physically outside the US (even for US employers) is not subject to any visa limitations, so NIL agreements are structured so that all of the athlete's "duties" are performed outside the US during the summer. or offseason.

Everyone get this email?

I'm very interested in how Paye will present herself. Will she give her usual superficial talk or will she provide insights into the program? I'm hoping for the latter but expecting the former.

It looks like the sign-up form (to receive a log-in) is individually assigned.
Any idea if this went out to all STM? Or just those who complained?

I didn't complain and I got the email. The event is for both MBB and WBB.

Thanks! Yeah, my theory was that Kyle was invited to bring down the tone.

How interactive is this going to be? Can we ask questions? I'm not sure how candid and forthcoming Paye will be. Guessing her guard will be up. Coach Smith is very candid however.

I sent a message to the AD, got a one-sentence reply, and didn't get an email invitation to the Webinar. Maybe the idea is to avoid "complainers."
