Since May 10, Webb has had a better ERA (1.57) than all other MLB starters except Jacob de Grom.

Crawford MVP damn right
Crawford has always been an excellent fielder (four gold gloves, led league in SS assists twice, was second once), and a 3x all-star. Generally, he has better range and accuracy than other NL shortstops. He's always been an RBI machine, even batting 7th or 8th (which has been typical for him). But as a career .250 hitter -- and he usually hits about .250 -- he doesn't get into the MVP discussion much. He's only finished in the Top 20 in MVP voting once, in 2016 when he hit .275 and led the league with 11 triples (the year Kris Brant won).
Now, Craw is hitting .296/.364./540/.904. He's on pace to drive in 107 runs with nearly 30 doubles and 25 HRs. Tatis is injured. Maybe this is the year for BCraw's MVP.

That's why I mentioned Webb in my post - he is the one pitching like an ace of late. But is he one-game-must-win ace level? Admittedly, there are few of those guys out there in MLB - de Grom and Buehler come immediately to mind - but it would be nice to have one in case Giants end up in Wild Card game.
As for a closer, the Duval kid they brought back up has closer stuff. A hundo fastball and a slider that is pretty nasty. If he gains control/confidence/wisdom between now and end of season, well that would be so great.
Love this Giants' roster. There was one game a few back where Wilmer was batting 7th or 8th - and last night Dickerson was in the 8 hole. Those are pretty impressive hitters for that slot in the batting order, reflecting great depth.
Last night's game was pretty amazing. The Rockies' Morquez (sp?) has great stuff and is nasty. And the Giants eke out a 1-0 lead, thanks to a Dickerson double that eluded the aging "Jeremiah Johnson" in RF (and which followed a highly dubious managerial decision to even pitch to Dick with 2 outs and a runner in scoring position). So, I'm thinking game is playing out as expected: very tough pitcher's duel.
And then the Giants explode for 6 runs in the fourth(?) courtesy of a Casali double (plating one), a bases-loaded-top-of-the-wall blast from Webb (!) that somehow ended up only being a single (nice baserunning Dickerson . . . NOT), and a 3-run BOMB from Lamont Wade. Just like that 7-0 (thanks for coming, drive home safely).
Giants don't score again . . . Thankfully didn't need to.
As someone said, team has all kinds of pixie dust floating around it this season. And they are fun to watch.

Crawford = NL MVP is available at 80-1 odds right now (August 13th) at FanDuel sports book, for believers who are interested.

No way Craw wins. Eastern bias a la Luck twice, Toby, Bryce, Mac.
I still think that Don Bunce should have won in 1971. And Albert in 1940. Plus Garrett in '53 (most TD passes, most INT's as a safety.

“deadwood contracts” as was suggested earlier in this thread? No way. This is terrific news. I hope they can come to an agreement with Buster as well. Tear up his option and offer a two year extension to his current deal.

The announcers said most HRs/AB on the Giants is . . . Belt (Wade a close second).
Also, based solely on gut feel watching the games, I'd say Wade's K rate is higher than Belt's, too.
But you want Wade over Belt for next season . . . okay.

I would attempt to resign Bryant and play him at 1B. Otherwise, you have a platoon situation because Wade can’t hit lefties.

Sixth straight win last night, longest streak of the season. Stanford's own Slater went 3 for 5 in the leadoff spot with two doubles, two runs scored. His line is now .235/.308/.403/.711. Really nice to see, as was Littell's pitching performance when McGee melted down and gave up a two run HR and loading the bases for C. J. Cron, the N.L.'s most dangerous hitter. Cron, batting .429. with a 1.357 OPS over the last week as struck out by Littell on four pitches.
Giants are now 75-41, a .646 win rate, which projects to 105 wins. It's the 8th highest win rate over 138 seasons for the franchise, and the highest win rate since 1913. In all of MLB, the Giants have the #11 BA (.246), #4 OPS (.766) and #1 in HRs (176), with #8 in most runs scored (576). They have the #3 overall ERA (3.33), and #1 WHIP (1.12). they have the #1 fielding average (.987), and the highest defensive efficiency (.719) which is the percentage of balls put into play converted into outs.
And now they have Crawford for two more seasons. Be nice to get Posey for two more. The Giants' awesome depth (In Farhan We Trust) has converted the oldest roster in MLB into the most flexible roster in MLB because Farhan has hit on such a high percentage of his signings. And Connor Joe, Opening Day flop in 2019 signed by Farhan, is hitting .287/.357/.487/.844 as the Rockies' leadoff hitter. So Farhan wasn't wrong, just two years too early...

Yeah Wade can’t hit lefties. But the sample size is 40 at bats.
Yeah Belt is doing just what I thought he would do, have a positive year. Salary drive.
Yeah, resign Belt and next year he stinks up the yard.
Yeah, save the Belt money and give it to Bryant. And what is wrong anyway with a Ruf/Wade platoon?

I am partial to tall first basemen. Besides, Longoria owns 3B for another year. An infield of Longoria, Crawford, LaStella, and Bryant with Posey at C and a mix and match OF looks pretty good. The off-season emphasis should be sign Bryant and a basket full of starting pitchers….

Ah, the Belt wars. He’s been a damn good player his entire Giants career. But he is injury prone which may mean they don’t re-sign them.

Going to be a hell of an interesting off-season. After a hell of an interesting season. Which was completely unexpected. It’s been a lot of fun.

And, Belt is a far superior fielding 1B. Wade is still trying to get the hang of the position…..
In other words, I‘ll take Belt over Wade as a 1B.
However, given the expense of bringing back Belt along with the cost of signing Bryant and a bunch of starting pitchers, I would let Belt go and pour the saved dollars into the other needs.
