The most likely scenario at this point seems to be as follows:
1) expansion to 12 teams (including SDSU) to maintain higher inventory
2) a new deal on linear TV (probably ESPN)
3) some inventory for Amazon or Apple (the streamers pay more, so this helps the financial case for the whole deal)
4) the expanded CFP provides enough rationale for Oregon and Washington to keep it together. The Pac-10/12 might also allow them to keep a disproportionate share of any CFP appearance payouts, which will be enormous. And the path to the CFP from the Pac-12 could be easier.
5) Stanford stays in the Pac-10/12.
This doesn't preclude the possibility of the big teams going to the B1G, including Stanford, but the B1G doesn't seem to want that right now. The Big 12 is not holding as many cards as it pretends to be.
(Source for most of this is the new Wilner/Canzano podcast. Nobody knows for sure what will happen, but their arguments sounded credible.)

Wow, you did a far better job of paying attention than I did! Nothing different, but I will add the joke Howard mentioned about how MTL wasn’t part of the committee(?) when USC/UCLA made that announcement, but his term began on July 1 and he’s been totally immersed in it the entire summer. Sounds like they’re spending a lot of time and energy on this and that nothing can be ruled out at this point.
