Bad luck? A team that is offensively challenged? A team with tired legs? I do wish that the team had more speed and length on defense to force turnovers and get fast break points. That can really charge up an offense. But Stanford might get only 1 or 2 fast break buckets per game.
The reason why Stanford "could not get stops on the other end" against USC was that Stanford's coaches had the team playing a bizarre and porous D aimed at stopping JuJu. Alas, in the process it left Forbes wide open. You know how that worked out.

Hey, I've got an idea...
As fans, why don't we focus on all the blemishes of the team? We can obsess about whether another pimple will show up. We can focus on the worst stat in our wins. After all, if we worry it enough, maybe we'll somehow change things. And, if one of them comes true, we can proudly say "I told you so!"
While we're at it, why don't we denigrate the winningest coach in basketball history. After all, if she doesn't win every game, it's her fault for not doing what we want. Hey, maybe we could start a campaign...
As for me, I want to cheer for the success and accomplishments of this team and the individuals and the coaches and staff that make up the team. Heck, I'd rather cheer for the Stanford Twiddlywinks team than read the negativity shows up here for some of the sports. I take joy in the wins and the successes, but I don't want to read the rancid rancor that I've seen on some posts in the Cardboard for some other sports and which seem to be starting to ferment in some posts on WBB.

I basically agree with your perspective, at the same time that I understand why people lay out their feelings about what's a problem with the team. We're fans, and when we're disappointed with a loss, we feel a need to express our disappointment. But yes, you're absolutely right. We need to write more celebrating the wins, the strengths, the excitement of this team. There's so much there. So . . . , cheers to all the posts about the really great things and players on this team. Thanks for putting us posters on notice.

Another member of Team Stepford here.
On the overall tone sometimes seen here (and not meant to be singling out any poster).... Why so serious? Our team is ranked in the top 5, out-performed their pre-season expectation by A LOT, won the Pac 12 regular season, has one of the most fun players to watch in Stanford history (who is also the Pac's POY and DPOY), our coach just became the winningest coach in Basketball history, and the team is picked by many to be in this year's Final Four. (Including THIS guy's pick ...Prez Picks).
We may not win it all but this season has been FUN .... even if our fan board doesn't always reflect it. The dominant mood on the board should never become one of negativity, especially in a season like this one has become.
I can appreciate critical post-game analysis but let's keep WBB a fun and Borg-lite corner of Stanford fandom.

Arizona leads off for the Pac-12 in the NCAA tournament by beating Auburn in their First Four game.

Arizona just beat Auburn in a "first four" game -- 69-59. Basically played 6+ people, was overwhelmed on the boards but made up for it with 23-18 turnover edge and 8 point edge at the free throw line. I don't like their changes against Syracuse, but can hope they prevail, meaning another Pac-12 win. BTW, Barnes seems to be channeling Kim Mulkey, with a very flashy outfit, though in what to me is better taste than Mulkey's.

He says it as it is, as he sees it. Yep, entertaining to read, but there's some reality mixed in here.
BTW, watching the LSU/Rice game right now, and Mulkey is actually wearing a reasonable, totally non-flamboyant outfit. What's with that? Where are the feathers and sequins, and fluorescent whatevers? Harder to hate her when she looks like a reasonable person. But her facial expressions and sideline behavior do make up for the lack of screaming dress to some extent.

My upset picks today have been mostly in the "almost" category. I picked Arizona, and they led most of the way but faltered at the end. And I picked Michigan, which was up late but lost in overtime. Princeton is up by 2 at half time, so that one has a chance. Marquette now down by 6 to Mississippi.
