Well, I predicted 31 to 19 (1 TD and 4 FGs). Well, VT has their 31 but we are 4 FGs short of 19. I was too optimistic about how we'd perform. Mea culpa.

The only good thing to come out of this game is that it is now transparently obvious who our starting QB should be once his injury -- whatever it is -- is healed.

Sheeeesh. Well, obviously this was a our TRAP GAME before the Legends Showdown next week in South Bend,
NBC 3:30pm ET.
Sure enough --
Notre Dame scheduled us for Homecoming. How about that.

RIGHT! Micah Ford playing lots of QB in high school makes that possible.
Very close call, and great ballet footwork by Ayomanor.

Sadly, with the Deacons puting down the Wolfpack, we will not be favored in another game all year.
This all looks like Taylor is playing for Next Year's lineup, giving the younger O-Line the start, and saving Brown for 2025.
The Running Back Corp is young.
But, 6 or 7 starters on Defense won't be back.
After this one, I'll be surprised if we win another game this year.
Not sure what the answer is, but I don't think it is Lamson at QB.
Hey, give Myles Jackson a shot.

We will not be favored in any of our remaining games...
Which ones could we win? WAKE? @ CAL? @ SJST?

And . . . we lose Ford to injury with seconds remaining. Terrible.

Never know for sure how bad when it happens
But didn’t look good going off field

Pathetic second half (except Ford to Ayomanor)... went down with a whimper.
Somehow we matched them on Rushing yardage.
But, the two turnovers at critical drive-stopping pivot points sealed our doom.

Wow. I figured we could get at least a couple of field goals on top of the TD. Unbelievable.

Agree on all three counts, John. 2-10 is a dismal prospect to contemplate.

Good one
A daunting thought
That Coach would have improved OLine, DLine, and running game
And not for sure to even match wins from last season
Football a cruel taskmaster

Jesus created that wine out of water. Maybe a miracle will create a really good QB out of some unknown bench player.

Really hope he figures this out. He needs an Andrew Luck-class quarterback. Or Kevin Hogan.

I don't think this game was every going to turn out any different. Didn't get a chance to watch any of it live, though.
From the highlights/box score, I'm encouraged that the offense actually mounted a drive or two in the first half, and I'm very pleasantly surprised that the defense wasn't complete tissue paper against a good running team.
There will be better days *this season* for Stanford under Troy Taylor, I promise!

Indeed he does. He needs a lot of things, including some DBs that have speed and receivers that can get open. This team doesn't have an abundance of raw talent.
That said, I find it interesting that the euphoria of the Syracuse win has been completely cancelled by the subsequent losses. I think most of us would have taken a 2-3 record at this point in history. Our injury situation is indeed "bad", but we don't actually know how bad. That situation may be governing on how the rest of the season goes. We are what our record says we are. There may be two more wins out there.

Good points
And yes too early in season to toss in the white towel or fall prostrate on our own bayonets
To me the frustration is that, while seeing some notable improvements like we’ve noted on the board,
it also seems like some things have shockingly slid worse for no apparent reason, or at least not to this distant armchair analyst.
Turnovers, bad decisions, bad ref calls, injuries, slip and falls, odd play calls, just general mistakes and/or bad luck,
Have all seemed to undermine the notable improvements that we would otherwise celebrate.
