2026:  Annus Horribilis
What is the point spread now for Elon?

RE: Wake Forest Game Thread - Langdude - 10-03-2026

This is a total embarrassment. We look like a I-AA team. Worse.

Ah, good.  Down 50 - 3 at start of Q4, Pritchard looking to establish the ground game...
With WAKE in relaxed prevent.  Cool.
The problem for WAKE is that this is such a big blowout, that they won't move up in the ratings much.

Going into the game, we were 120th ranked in Red Zone Defense...
In the UK, a team suffers relegation for this... Humiliating.
Some players will be looking at the transfer portal after this, sadly.

WAKE expects to score when they get the ball.
We struggle to get first downs.
With Gerhart or Taylor or McCaff (and the TWU) we would lean forward on every play.
Now we don't.

The difference is not between Gerhardt, Taylor , McCall and Ford any Irvin …. It’s between the offensive lines in front of the backs. Ford is a very, very good running back. The  first hit on him is much more likely to be behind the line of scrimmage or at it then even a hard past it .  all of our rushing yards are “after contact”. If we don’t get an offensive line we won’t be able to attract or keep good running backs.

Injuries are a significant part of our O Line problems .  But the maturity and talent  level between our O line and the D lines we face is large.

I agree, although I would rank Toby (duh) and Stepfan above Micah. Stepfan’s vision was incredible. But to your point, he’s not setting Stanford career rushing records if he plays with us this decade.
I can’t argue with your back ranking. Those guys were really good.

Can anyone remember a more embarrassing one. There probably have been but none jump to mind.

"Second Worst loss in Stanford football history"...Ugh!  Should be an interesting press conference.   Totally dominated by Wake Forest?

Good comments.  Gerhart was the #1 RB in all of Calif coming out of HS (on the East Coast, that's like 7 states)

ACC will now have to place an asterisk in the Standings on "Points for / Points against" --  * Has not played Stanford yet

RE: Wake Forest Game Thread - JeebsOak - 10-03-2026

Trash program, trash fcs level coaching staff, expected results for a half baked effort.

RE: Wake Forest Game Thread - KartyFan - 10-03-2026

Well, I tend to be on the optimistic side of this board, but there is pretty much nothing positive to take away from this game. A few 6-8 yard runs up the middle is about the best I can give. And good for Kenney to see one go through the uprights from 40+

Only sense for optimism is that we have already successfully flushed a bad loss this year. Although this one was almost twice as bad as the Duke game.

Any guesses at the spread against ND? 35 points?

ELON IS OUR SUPER BOWL

RE: Wake Forest Game Thread - Spiny_Norman - 10-03-2026

to quote Teejers from a long time ago in Austin, TX after a similar blow out loss (with tongue firmly in cheek), "The refs f***ed us."

I'll add that this was Stanford's 13th consecutive road loss. Stanford now 1-10 on the road in ACC play with games remaining this season at Virginia Tech, at Louisville and at Cal (as well as a trip to South Bend next week).

Do you think Tavita told the team in the locker room "I smell a champion"?

RE: Wake Forest Game Thread - Row80Critic - 10-03-2026

Luck and Pritchard are lovable cronies that got sold a bill of goods by the admin.  I'm guessing they'd be significantly more successful just about anywhere else.  The admin keeps sending the program into gun fights while maintaining its sanctimonious prohibition against guns.

SkiBum80 - SkiBum80 - 10-03-2026

More than sufficient colorful descriptions about what an embarrassingly epic beat down happened today. So I won’t add to it.
What I’ll say instead, is that what Tavita & Co. need to do now is somehow survive next week without season ending injuries.
And mentally rally the team to win an eminently winnable home game vs Elon. Then do that again for NC State and/or get em up for the Big game. Better if both. This to be able to end the season with any claim that there has been any progress or at least no regression in his first year.
Not saying it’ll be easy. But then that’s why they get the big bucks.

RE: Wake Forest Game Thread - MV72018 - 10-03-2026

57-3?!!!!!

Beyond even my worst expectations. Yup, Pritchard is leading is forward —  into ignominy and irrelevance. Apparently there’s no “mercy rule” in college football.
