RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - BobK - 12-01-2025

Would Harvey have started at Stanford at Texas she played half the sets. We did just fine :)

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - BostonCard - 12-01-2025

No question we did just fine.  Would be interesting to see what Hambley would have done if Harvey was on the roster (probably redshirt, though thankfully we didn’t have to contend with injury at that position).  And my understanding is that we have another highly recruited middle coming in next year.  My point is that MB went from a position of relative weakness/lack of depth to one of strength, and that is even after losing out on a very highly touted recruit.

Yes a top MBer coming in
2 enrolling in January. Hickman a RS and the other I don’t know who

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - cardfan77 - 12-01-2025

Ella Andrews will be an early enrollee, I think. She and Sayer will be competing for one of the MB spots. I would not be surprised if she beats Sayer. If not, I think she will be taking a redshirt year.

Hickman looks to be the successor of Harvey. I believe she will be redshirting next year to fully recover from her injury. A 6’5” lefty on the RS is very exciting. I hope she is the next Kipp.

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - BobK - 12-01-2025

Maybe some one recalls but can’t recall who Hambly said would be redshirting

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - Spiny_Norman - 12-01-2025

I think I heard one of the ESPN folks on the NCAA tournament show say that Stanford is the youngest team in the field.

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - Nobadeer - 12-01-2025

So with M soccer falling to UW last night, we still have W VB and W soccer and M WP in the hunt for the NCAA title. No other school can make that claim. As the athletic department slogan goes, Only Here.

M WP is hosting, and for LSJU fans, it's fantastically awesome to see your team win the natty on campus (for example, M WP, 2001; M VB, 2009; W WP and tennis, multiple times).

LFG LSJU!

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - johnbar - 12-01-2025

Hambly said Ella (Andrews) and Sarah (Hickman) will be here in January.

I don't recall who is expected to redshirt.

Women’s tennis in I believe 1991 was one of the most exciting sporting events I have ever been at. Tennis was especially amped up as matches finished and the Stanford crowd coalesced around the match that would clinch the title. Completely electric.

I was there too for the 1991 WT championships too. The last day, I <somehow> managed to snag a seat ~ 6-8 rows up, just off midcourt, for Sandra Birch's singles championship as it wasn't too crowded for that match, I think maybe because it was on a weekday(??). I also remember it well because she beat a kal player for the title which made for a VERY nice afternoon. MVB's 2010 win at home was incredibly fun as well.

Love, love, love those home-cooked natty's! LFG, indeed!

I think they were only referring to fall sports in where the championships are already underway.

In the spring w golf, m gymnastics, and w wp should be strong contender as always!

We were referring to nattys actually won on campus (Disclaimer: and hopefully not invoking or provoking any woofing gods in doing so).

I was referring to nobadeers post, which was discussing which teams are still in the hunt. And then ended mentioning its great to win a natty on campus.

Fair enough - I was piling onto Hieronymus's reply in re campus nattys.  It's all good!

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - johnbar - 12-03-2025

Friday's match could start earlier than expected!

Nominally scheduled for 7pm (according to the NCAA bracket), the second match will start 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first (Arizona vs. South Dakota St.).

Usually this has meant 7pm or later, but apparently this year it could also mean earlier.
If the first match is a sweep, it could be over by 6, and Stanford's match start close to 6:30.

This is based on team announcements for other subregionals, quoted on VT.
And taking this literally:

TYVM! As the main griper about starting times in these parts, this is music to me ears.

RE: 2025 Women’s Volleyball - CompSci87 - 12-04-2025

I'm sure some folks will miss the start of the late game if it ends up starting early. This isn't such a big deal with (I think) most people having DVR capability these days, and/or being able to stream a replay later. I'm sure it's good for TV as well as fans at the venue not to have a brobdingnagian wait for the second game, and finishing earlier is good for everyone.

Minor observation: this game not on the Stanford athletics website master calendar, but is on the WVB schedule page.

Say what? I'm not sure exactly what location you're referring to, but at gostanford.com, it's in the list of events scrolling across the top of the page...

Start time specified as "30 mins after conclusion of first match"
