A good testament to the value of the football training college players receive while playing in college. Is the value of this training and exposure to NFL scouts being considered in determining what is the "fair" amount to pay college players?

Most certainly not. The "fair" market value is going to end up being however much a college national championship is worth to boosters, and more specifically, how much value a player brings to a team in pursuit of that championship. That's the market outside Stanford. At Stanford, we need to sell the training/exposure to scouts as part of the package with whatever the boosters can pony up. I will always assume that there aren't enough boosters donating to match the SEC factories out there.

Nate Herbig has been signed by the Commanders to a one-year deal. He missed all of 2024 with the Steelers on IR due to a torn rotator cuff.

Great reporting FM. I wish more of our LSJU guys would be on multi-year deals. The 1-year prove-it contracts must be stressful for the players (and their agents).

Uninformed speculation -- it's a function of the players' talent and the needs of teams. Perhaps also a function of whether players have had legitimate opportunities to showcase their potential with their former teams. So much of it is just market dynamics...if the guys can impress beyond just being depth contributors, word will definitely get around. The players still need to make it past the roster cuts to the 53-man roster this fall though...

Obviously no way of knowing if this is all true. However, McKee certainly has received a lot of good press in the last 18 months. I am not sure I agree with the idea that he will be a starter someday. He has certain skills but is not at all mobile. FWIW he also seems ill-suited to the offense the Eagles normally use. OTOH he has certainly shown enough to be a QB2.
