Depressing. The team did everything to lose the game, yet somehow had a shot at the end, then gifted the ball back to Wake Forest in crunch time. Every time Stanford looked to be righting the ship, they committed the next turnover. It was almost comical. Taylor is clearly not what we all had hoped he would be.

Any guesses on actual (not announced, as we know that's goosed) attendance at our last home game vs Louisville? 5k? 7k? Maybe it shocks the administration into some kind of action to alter our current trajectory, but I'm not betting on it.

I'm not sure which more pathetic. Our football team or Stanford students' lack of support for our team. It was a beautiful sunny Saturday at Stanford Stadium. No excuse for our students to be absent.

I don't find that pathetic at all. I went to maybe 1/3 of our home games when I was an undergrad and certainly never felt like I was doing the team a disservice nor that I was obligated to attend more games. Should the football players be scolded for not attending cross country and track meets (my sport)? Ok, how about men's basketball games?
More seriously, students' lack of support is a symptom of the problem, which is a terrible team and a terrible game experience. They'll come when/if it's fun to come. Let's focus on what the real problem is: Muir and an incompetent/indifferent administration.

It's the students' choice how to spend their time. My son got a BS and MS from Stanford. He never went to a football game. He had to interest in it. Even though I'm an enthusiast of sports I had no problem with him not wanting to sit for three hours watching a sport that didn't appeal to him.

I was at that game too - but we won 58-0. I have not missed a home game in years, but I'm not sure how much longer I can watch this clown show.

Agreed. It was very discouraging being at the game seeing how empty the stadium was. Can only imagine how the players feel. It has to be a tough sell to recruits as well (though obviously gameday atmosphere is just one aspect contributing to those decisions)

If Stanford cannot knock off Louisville in the home finale, we are looking at nearly 3 years (and counting) without a home victory over a FBS opponent when next season starts. That's a tough product to sell to the local fans.

They don't build 50,000 seat stadiums to watch cross country, track meets, or basketball games. I didn't refer to other varsity athletes attending football games. I referred to Stanford students in general. I also didn't condemn the non-attending students. I just think that it is pathetic that there is such lack of support by Stanford students. In my 4 years at Stanford, we never made a bowl game. But, our home games were well attended by students.
Perhaps the root cause of this lack of student support is the Stanford administration's assault on everything fun. I really don't think if we were 5-2 rather than 2-5 it would have made much difference in attendance at today's game.

Really?? Because at A&M he will be discouraged from studying engineering, especially if and when the labs collide with practice or film study.

Agreed with CowboyIndian -- football is the primary religion at A&M (don't let anyone convince you otherwise). As bad as their AD/management is, they sure funnel a lot of resources into football. The kids there didn't go there to play school, as Cardale Jones succinctly put it. Competing with kids who don't treat academics with respect is very tough.
I have to remind myself that a decent QB would probably be a +2 or +3 win improvement over this team's eventual record. I don't think Taylor needs to publicly throw his kids under the bus, but he doesn't have a guy yet. Hope his staff is recruiting hard.
