I have seen other organizations fast track.  Giants may need to think of that in ‘23. Particularly if they sit out the upper FA market.  Which given their lack of and everyday “core” players, may be the right thing to do.

I’m repeating myself, but no half measures.  If they go into the FA market, go big or go home.  If they are going to rebuild, then start fast tracking.

Belt to 60 day IL.  Giants acquire Jose Rojas from the Angels to fill Belt’s spot on the 40 man.  Rojas is hitting .125 in the bigs this year.  He will play for Sacramento.

Note:  The Angels also designated Steven Duggar for assignment.  Duggar cleared waivers and opted to become a free agent rather than accept an assignment to the Angels minor league system.

I will admit to being tired of the churn. My guess is Wood will end up on 60. There certainly is no reason to have him pitch again this year. Like to see Tristan Beck put on 40 and given a few starts.

Beck has been pretty solid since mid- July. He got off to a terrible start.

I’d be fine with Hjelle as  well. But I think the Giants have soured on him. Or, at least determined that he’s more suited for the bullpen.

Really don’t like bullpen games.  Ever. But particularly now.

Took a break from the record heat day on Inverness Ridge and sat in my cool garage listening to a guy named Kurtenbach proclaim that the Giants have nobody but Webb and Doval. Didn't count Rodon who may be gone and said that Bart had a chance.

I think he's correct. Off with everybody's head.

Is this guy related to Orland Kurtenbach who was the old minor league Seals (hockey) best player?

Orland Kurtenbach!

A name that brings back great memories.  

I was at the Cow Palace for Game 7 of the Western Hockey League finals in 1963 when the Seals beat the Seattle Totems to win the league championship.  Kurtenbach scored the winning goal in OT.  To this day, it ranks in the top handful of sporting events I have ever attended.

Eddie Panagabko was my Seals favorite player…..

Dieter Kurtenbach writer for Bay Area Newspaper group.  I’d  add Estrada, Bart, JD Davis, Crawford (one year left) Cobb, Wood. DeSclafani (off injury) Slater Yaz. Not a terrific list. But useful players. Certainly not a strong “core” to build around.  

There is going to be a lot of change.

Dieter Kurtenbach is another in a long line of pseudo-muckraking knucklehead reporters that I occasionally read to see how low he can drag the sports journalism profession, and every other time I read his work, it seems like he's dragged it a little further south.  At least Cohn and Dickey back in the day were semi-entertaining.  I find him dull and repetitive.
