RE: Stanford in the NFL - Mick - 09-21-2026

Zach Ertz is back on the Phillies' practice squad, and is expected to be elevated to the 53 man roster this weekend.

Reports: Eagles sign tight end Zach Ertz

RE: Stanford in the NFL - Nobadeer - 09-22-2026

Bailey had a sack and a TFL for the Jets.

Roush had a rough game in Chicago, at least 2 drops.

Ayomanor caught 2 passes, for 69 yards. Is it already 3 years since he went thermonuclear in the second half at Boulder?

RE: Stanford in the NFL - Nobadeer - 09-24-2026

Austin Hooper caught a TD for victorious Atlanta at Lambeau Field. His 31st NFL career TD! Not too bad.

To be fair, I don't know if Ayomanor was drafted into a great QB situation in Tennessee.  Both the QB and RB situations (and OL) in Tennessee are bottom-tier.

RE: Stanford in the NFL - Nobadeer - 09-27-2026

Brycen Tremayne with a career day, 4 catches for 83 yards.

His Carolina teammate Okereke cost the Panthers the game with a somewhat dubious roughing the passer penalty that erased a game-sealing INT by one of his teammates. Cleveland went on to score the winning TD.

RE: Stanford in the NFL - fullmetal - 09-27-2026

Ouch, helping the Browns win one...

RE: Stanford in the NFL - Nobadeer - 10-05-2026

Michael Wilson had 7 more receptions for AZ, giving him 25 for the season, which is top 10 in the NFL so far. Elijah Higgins had 2 catches, as did Tremayne.

Justin Reid, a few years removed from two Super Bowl rings with the Chiefs, is now on the Saints. Who through 4 games are the NFL's worst defense (allowing 32 ppg). He had 7 tackles on MNF; New Orleans got demolished by Atlanta 45-24.

RE: Stanford in the NFL - Nobadeer - 10-12-2026

Bailey had 3 sacks for the victorious J-E-T-S Jets.

Michael Wilson is now the undisputed WR1 for the Arizona Cardinals after the Cardinals traded away former #4 pick Marvin Harrison Jr. in exchange for a second round draft pick (and a seventh rd pick swap) with the Texans.  MH Jr. reportedly had effort issues and just never produced at the level expected of a generational talent first rounder.  Former Stanford players Simi Fehoko and Elijah Higgins are also with the Cardinals.

Just a great overall story for Stanford alumni!

RE: Stanford in the NFL - PVTree - 10-15-2026

Jalen Hurts has been ruled out of this Sunday's game. Tanner McKee will get the start. Is this his springboard to get a starting position with another team in the near future?

RE: Stanford in the NFL - Nobadeer - 10-19-2026

Jalen Hurts is likely out for the rest of the season. McKee might be the Eagles starting QB going forward? I didn't see him play yesterday but it didn't seem like a scintillating performance. Still, this is his big chance.

Actually, IMO this is a bad situation for McKee. He has never fit well as a replacement for Hurts because he is nowhere near as athletic/good as a runner. The Eagles offense is built around Hurts' different skill set, and that offense is already struggling. It is a very big ask for McKee to step in and make said offense "work". McKee has had a very nice career as a back-up QB for the Eagles. If he isn't able to "solve" the Eagles problem going forward this year, they may question his suitability to be Hurts' backup in the future.

I suspect the coaches are strong enough to realize that, and have a different game plan in mind for McKee.

I agree that they will attempt to fit the game plan to his strengths. However, they have drafted and traded for players that fit with Hurts' running and scrambling capabilities. These players don't fit as well with a pocket passer that doesn't run well. Those personnel decisions circumscribe what is possible. That limits what the game plan can be because of inherent roster limitations.

"Inherent roster limitations" is putting it kindly. RB Saquon Barkley is out as are the #2 and #3 running backs. Sunday's starting RB (the only one who had any carries) started the season on the practice squad. WR Davonta Smith has missed time, although he played and scored on Sunday, and WR Hollywood Brown is still out. On top of that 3 OL week 1 starters are out.

Even with a healthy Jalen Hurts--and I certainly wish him a full and speedy recovery!--the Eagles would struggle to compete in the lowly NFC East, IMO.
