Not sure where to put this, but I'll leave it here. Comparing leaguewide season attendance for area sports teams with their overall leaguewide standings:
Team Attendance Standing
Giants 7th 27th
49ers 7th 13th
Warriors 17th 21st
Sharks 31st* T22nd
* Last season's attendance ranking
The Sharks bumped up to 28th in 2025-26 (92.8% of capacity). Given their arena capacity ranks 25th in the NHL, that is not too bad.
In 2026-27, look for them to return to the glory days of the Thornton era when they sold out most of their games. Celebrini is worth the price of admission.
Thanks for the post. Anything that turns our attention away from the Giants this year is appreciated.

Giants' minor league teams in first place: Richmond, San Jose, Eugene. Their rookie team (Arizona Complex) is in 2nd place of 15. And Sacramento (AAA) is 3rd of 10. So their draft and player development is first rate. Incidentally, there's a Dominican Summer League with 50 teams, and the Giants are 9th and 15th in that league.
I have the solution for the MLB Giants:
1. Sign Arraez to a long-term contract. He's a talent, don't let him go. 3rd in MLB in 2b WAR.
2. Also talents, so keep Eldridge, Schmitt, Ramos (16th in LF WAR, but cheap), Lee (18th WAR for RF, but fans love him), Webb, Loupp.
3. Dump their catchers, 25th in collective WAR.
4. Devers is average (15th in WAR for 1Bs, but too expensive). Get what you can for him. Eldridge can play 1B
5. Chapman is 4th in MLB for 3B WAR. Keep him...although, 3B is Schmitt's natural position. If the G's can't trade Adames, but can trade Chapman, I'd support that.
6. Giants center fielders are 17th collectively. Bader can go. Bericoto in CF.
7. Adames is 20th in WAR, but he heats up dramatically in the second half. Stinks through June, kills it from July to year end. Trade him, but after the season when his numbers look more normal. Schmitt can play SS.
8. As for pitchers, trade any guy not named Webb or Loupp, but particularly Ray, Mahle, Houser, Borucki, Walker, Beck, Kilian, Gage, Dylan Smith needs to go.
9. Keep Whisenhunt, Miller, Tidwell, Brubaker, Peguero, Winn, Hentges, McDonald, Peguero, Rodriguez.

How does this sound?
- Move Schmidt to his natural 3B position. If you look at Rtot, it's his best position by a mile.
- Sign Luis Arraez to a long term contract.
- Keep Eldridge as the starter at 1B
-
Trade a catcher, Chapman, Devers and Adames to either the Royals (for Bobby Witt Jr., #2 overall WAR at SS and Carter Jensen at catcher) or the Angels (for Zach Neto, #8 overall WAR) and pitching prospects, either Chourio and Shields (both Royals high-A or slightly lesser pitchers Lombardi/Arronde/Beam/Langevin) or Klassen (strong AAA starter) and another Angels pitcher . Both teams are terrible and need A LOT of help. Both teams have flat-out terrible 1B and 3Bs. If either gets Chapman, Devers AND Adames, they will improve their team considerably. Giants take back a big chunk of their compensation.
- OFs are Ramos, Bericoto and Lee
- Backups are Christian Koss in IF, Grant McCrary and Harrison Bader (still under contract for one more year) in OF

Per their contracts, Adames and Chapman have to agree before they can be traded. The likelihood of that happening is somewhere between nil and 0.5%.
Given the amount remaining on Devers’ contract, the likelihood of him being traded is even less.
Ray and Arreaz (both on expiring contracts) remain the most likely to be dealt.

Why wouldn't Adames or Chapman agree to be traded to a contending team that needed them, especially with a nice bonus attached?

Because their contracts are boat anchors? SF would have take on far more than they would willing to pay to entice someone to kick the tires…
