Grover Alexander. Reagan played him in a movie.

Working backwards, Reagan is gotta be the President actor, and he played Grover Cleveland Alexander in The Winning Team, who is named after Grover Cleveland.

BC

Nope. This player was the 3rd overall pick in the 1952 NBA draft, never played a baseball game in the minors, played both at Duke, played one season in the NBA (11.9ppg) and finished 3rd in the 1952 MLB RoY vote.

Same here. And it was Dick Groat. His nephew is Brooks Koepka, btw, who says he'd much rather be a pro baseball player than a pro golfer.

Who are the five players who have won the "Major Leagues Triple Crown" meaning that they would have won the home run, RBI and batting average titles in both leagues that year?

No and no.  First would have been 1909, last was 1956. Yaz and Frank were right after the 1956 T/C.

Mantle, Gehrig were correct.  Other three were Ted Williams, Rogers Hornsby and Mickey Mantle.

Stanford's mascot is the Cardinal, referencing the color.  How did the St. Louis Cardinals mascot manifest? In other words, why and when were they first called the Cardinals?

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - BobK - 01-20-2023

Mantle twice???
