REVISITING THE SCHEDULE -- AFTER K-STATE - ADPinWDC - 09-04-2021

Revisiting the 2021 Schedule.
Sept. 4 Kansas State (in Arlington): LOSS; But, likely determined McKee as Starting QB
Sept. 11 at USC: LOSS; Cardinal secondary will get shredded. Could be 55-14 final, "Hey, what's your deal?"
Sept. 18 at Vanderbilt: WIN: Probably figure out enough by week 3 against a winless team last season.
Sept. 25 UCLA: TOSSUP -- But lean UCLA with DTR at QB; Shaw used to have Bruins on lock, but now? McKee needs to catch fire.
Oct. 2 Oregon: LOSS -- even though Ducks have all kinds of indigestion with Fresno State today.
Oct. 8 at Arizona State: LOSS -- Devils too potent on both sides of the ball.
Oct. 16 at Washington State: WIN -- Going to Pullman in Oct is way better than in soggy Nov.
Oct. 23 OPEN DATE
Oct. 30 Washington: LOSS -- Huskies by Halloween are a Bowl team. Big upfront.
Nov. 5 Utah: LOSS -- We get creamed here; transfer QB Brewer looked smooth in their opener on Weber St.
Nov. 13 at Oregon State: WIN (maybe) -- Up there, hard to predict in Nov. Beavs on a wet track. Ugly.
Nov. 20 Cal: WIN -- refuse to give up the Axe. Cal has issues on Offense also.
Nov. 27 Notre Dame: LOSS -- By then, NDAM will know whether they need this game for a Playoff / NY6 spot.

Post Kansas State, looking like a 4W - 7L with 1 TOSSUP team -- at best. Not bowling.
That might trigger a Huddle and some reconsideration of the Assistant Coaching staff, particularly at OC. New blood.
But, I think Shaw would need to go two more sub-500 seasons to face a long walk.

No, he could have sub-.500 seasons for the next 5 years and he'd still not be fired.

very true. consecutive 4 win seasons earned Shaw a pay bump to $9.5M last year.

Without significant improvements from today I wouldn't count on a single win on the schedule. Does that mean they will go 0-12? No, but I have no idea which game(s) they will win to avoid it.

My pre-season prediction of 4-8 looks like upside right now

After week 1, the Pac-12 North is indeed looking pretty sketchy. Even Oregon had an unexpected battle with Tedford's Bulldogs. Ohio State is likely to shred them next week in Columbus.

Actually I thought four wins last year was pretty good given
We only played six games.
Mills missed the first game and most of the practice week for the second due to an erroneous Covid test.
We spent the entire last four weeks on the road.

This is bad enough. We don't have to make it sound any worse than it is.

Tedford stepped down from coaching two or three years ago due to heart/health problems. Fresno State's starting qb transferred from University Washington a few years ago. I agree with you totally. In fact the Mountain West gave the Pac 12 a run for their money Saturday, even San Jose State pushed the Condoms until late in the game.
