Hope he gets well. I am increasingly coming to believe that it’s not worth it for our entertainment.

I hope he fully recovers. And he's majoring in the same one I did those many many many many years ago. I didn't even know it still existed

Very impressive graduating on time in Math.
Protect your brain. All the best.

That's a thing about Stanford that sets, er set, us apart--the majors of the players. Truly remarkable. Sadly, with the new landscape, no one will care.
As for the major, I don't know how you guys survived. Aside from Mary Sunseri, the math department that I was exposed to in the early 80s was dreadful.
Anyway, kudos to Bragg and all the best for his future.

Mary Sunseri - now there is a name out of the dark distant past. I took a course or two from her back in the late 1950's

One of the best profs I had at Stanford; an absolute joy at 8am freshman year. And she was teaching Calculus to the masses. . . .

NIL, transfers on meth speed, concussions, conference uncertainty...probably time for Stanford to throw in the towel. Take the damn endowment and support the Olympic sports. You will survive.

I took Math 41A, 41B, and 41C from professor Sunseri. She was indeed one of the best teachers there was, although professor Bacon got lots of good reviews as well. I am old and crotchety, but I still say she was one of the best ever and maybe GOAT.

This is really sad. He is suffering from long-term and intense symptoms. Yet he was on the field and participating as recently as the final plays of the open scrimmage on Aug. 19.
The concussion was probably an ongoing, recurring problem that he tried to overcome during training camp. It's a bummer but a wise choice.

Such very sad news. I respect how he deals with the situation with class, maturity, and intelligence.
Best wishes for his recovery and for his future.
This news doesn’t singlehandedly change my support for Cardinal football. It sounds like Bragg received excellent medical care and honest medical advice, and that he was pursuing his dreams and trying to realize his football abilities. I expect that Stanford will continue to support his recovery and to help him realize his many other talents.

From a purely football team competitiveness standpoint, Bragg is an example of why programs must constantly bring in at least 4-5 OL and 3-4 DL in every class if they want to remain competitive. The attrition at particularly the OL and DL positions is real, and it takes time to develop players so they have the size and strength to compete in games. You might find a Frosh who can play right away every now and then, but it is rare and teams that rely on youthful linemen are usually not winning a lot of games.
The further from football Bragg gets the better he will feel and that includes dropping a lot of weight his body probably doesn't naturally carry. Bragg will be fine because he chose Stanford and took his education seriously. Most guys in his position don't.

Why don’t you apply to the recruiting dept. and lay that genius on them.

Why did you feel the need to post this? My post wasn't directed at you, but yours was at me. That being the case, don't speak in tongues, say what you are really thinking and don't hold anything back with weak sarcasm.
BRING IT. Call out all the ways my post bothered you so much. I prefer a fight to all this pussyfooting around.

That's clearly the case. College football has now begun its final countdown. Matter of time. Wouldn't be surprised if Stanford is one of the first major universities to abandon football. A lot like smoking cigarettes was. Lots of denial for a long time, big money involved, but the evidence of smoking's lethality eventually trumped denial and delegitimized smoking cigarettes.

Not that there isn't validity in what you observe (I happen to agree with you to some degree), but, I wouldn't bet on it. Indeed, I'd put money on just the opposite.

My thoughts precisely. Feels like it's that or play in a lower-tier conference or division. I'd prefer the former between those two options.

Agreed. I didn't like it much when my alma mater coughed up the football program, so to speak, but I don't miss it at all. And since then SCU's reputation has improved considerably, according to USNWR.

Speak in tongues? LOL. You come here and lay out your philosophy again... and again... and again. You’re like the Duvall character in The Natural.
Fight? Maybe when I was 35. No, make that definitely when I was 35.
