We are down 39-35 at halftime.
Our two freshmen, who have sparked us in our last two games have combined for 5 points.
Oh well.

Guess can hold off a bit on engraving that Haase Coach of the Year award

And this is January.
Historically, Haase teams fail to improve as much as other teams over the season, and therefore struggle more and more as the season moves to late February and early March.
Still nice to get wins of UofA and UCLA in the last Pac-12 season.

Watched this game on TV. USC, however many losses they may be wearing, is objectively superior from a talent standpoint. Among their supporting cast is the son of LeBron James, who was too good for college. Going in I knew that if they played as much as their B+ game, we were going to lose, and the Trojans were hitting threes from Catalina Island so........ well, yeah. This was not a bad loss, it'll probably be a Quad 1 loss on the sheet, and we were able to march up to the gate but couldn't batter it down and got repelled at the end.
Carlyle makes our team legitimately competitive, unlike past Haase teams, but we dug a h.u.g.e hole while he was out of the equation and it is unclear if we're going to be able to climb all the way out. Just hope to beat these guys in Maples later in the year.

agree Carlyle makes us competitive and SC has some legit studs. This was SC's best game this season. Carlyle and Stoya both tried to do too much, and turned it over, but they belong on the court with the studs. Best game I've ever seen for M Jones, both on d and o. S Jones hit a 3 and a couple layups but otherwise was passive or missed shots. Reynaud needs to take a squeeze ball to class to strengthen those hands. Bynum another ho-hum game. He was riding the bike so maybe has a "lower body issue:) Geeler is earning more and more playing time. Two threes today and a couple assists. Angel hit some threes and Keefe battled but missed or was blocked on maybe 4 under the basket.
Whatever happens, this team is has been way more fun to watch in the last three games.

I hesitate to post when I have yet to watch my DVR but was perplexed looking at the stats at the top, and then …
FG% 52.7% vs 47.8% Stanford
3FG% 59.1% vs 56% Stanford
FT 8-10 ( 80%) vs 15-24 (62.5%) hmm…
TO 18 vs 6… oops…

High turnovers is a hallmark of Haase teams
For years & years
I thought Bynum might finally make a significant change but here we are

Interesting to see such enthusiasm after a loss to a 7-7 team.
I suppose it beats the incessant "Fire Haase" comments.

Show of hands, pls. Who thinks Haase will preside over a return to Montgomery Glory, or even a return to relevance as in a regular presence in The Tournament? If you think "No Way", how can you rationalize the status quo?

If you are what your record says you are,
Then we are perfectly positioned to have equal half-empty and half-full perspectives
But also, for a .500 team, the only way you get into the Dance is to be working it as wait staff

People who aren’t incessantly thinking “fire Haase” are clueless. It only makes sense for .500 to elicit equal amounts of glass half full and glass half empty takes if one is ignorant to the nature of college basketball. Getting to .500 is not much of an achievement with the amount of dreck teams are able to pad their records against, and it is especially no achievement to hover around .500 for eight years. You won’t find another ostensibly major program in the country that goes eight years without being good and hasn’t made a change or two or three in that span. In any given year Haase teams being around .500 mean that we are the eighth or so best team in the Pac-12, which can fairly be argued as mediocre in that one given year, but being mediocre every year isn’t mediocre, it’s bad. Mediocre teams are occasionally good. Nobody who wants the best for Stanford basketball should watch it without thinking “fire Haase.”

To be accurate Stanford was 20-12 in 2019-20 when the NCAA tournament was cancelled
More accurate Stanford has been under 500 since. That’s what gets me Haase has momentum and lost it.
Stanford is not firing Haase this month or next But in March. We hope

Enjoying the play of a more competitive team brought on by both new and improved players and understanding that our current head coach needs to go can both be true at the same time. For sure, come March Haase should be fired. As for the here and now, this team at this time is very dangerous, and that's already been proven. At least for me, they are currently way more enjoyable to watch, and root for, than Haase's other teams.

Totally agree. I haven't changed my fire Hasse opinion in four years. But, this team is more fun to watch, and I'm happy for the players when they play well and enjoy themselves. That's all I'm saying.
