MBB complete Washington trip unblemished by a win -

Chalk up a dismal 72-59 loss. Up by 1 at the half, the Cardinal got crushed 37-23 in H2. Sickening. The key stat in the game is that the Cardinal got outrebounded 37 to 20! Shameful.

We now have a losing record overall, a losing conference record, fallen into the bottom half of conference…
A dismal & woeful condition
For alumni, fans, players too I imagine

They had some bad luck in the second half...but then that's not unusual.

Cal beat UW on a 3 pointer with 4 seconds left. Stanford and Cal are now tied in the conference standings.
Stanford had 53 points with 11:26 remaining in the game and finished with 59. They shot 1 for 12 over the last 11:26 with 4 TOs. Really frustrating for them and the fans. We have not seen the grit needed to win when they don't play their best.

I thought it was funny that before game #1 of this trip the tv commentators mentioned Stanford was battling for the Pac-12 tournament's #4 seed.
Now Stanford is only a game clear of 10th.

The Stanford roster is immensely more talented and experienced than Cal yet our Pac12 records are the same. Madsen is doing a great job. His team has progressively gotten better throughout the year and they are fun to watch.

If Mark Madsen were the head coach of this team, with the identical roster, it is a deadbolt certainty that our record would be significantly better than 12-13. Haase and Muir must go, the sooner the better. That must happen if we are to keep our talented freshmen. Of course, it won't. Draw your own conclusions about this dismal situation.

Cal basketball fans have been through a heaping mound of $#%& for most of the time I've been a sports fan (about 21 years). Now for the first time in ages, it would appear that things are finally looking up for them, although this year Madsen had to play the cards that were dealt to him by Mark Fox, Wyking Jones, etc. One poster on their fan site, Write For California, has described their future as "glorious."
Cal just has to figure out how to not have Madsen get poached before he does something noteworthy.....

As long as Muir remains Stanford's director of athletics -- that may be for years since Stanford is unlikely to dismiss him -- Cal certainly won't have to worry about Stanford trying to lure Mark back to the Farm. Why Muir didn't offer the head coach position to Mark a couple of years ago seems explicable only by some combination of (a) lack of smarts, (b) failure to be pro-active, and (c ) illusory belief that Haase would lead Stanford MBB back to relevance.
