2024 Stanford at Syracuse Predictions Thread - george - 09-17-2024

ACC opener!   Do we go on the road and shock the world?  Or will it be a long night for the good guys?

RE: 2024 Stanford at Syracuse Predictions Thread - cardcrimson - 09-17-2024

The world won't care either way.

Picking Stanford as the Dome ain't what it used to be. . . .

Not a good match-up. Their QB (transfer from Ohio St.) may be their best since Donovan McNabb. Favored by 9.5 as of today. down from 10.5 yesterday). Good win vs. Georgia Tech last week.

Yeah, but we've got three QBs to chose from! Keep them guessing!

RE: 2024 Stanford at Syracuse Predictions Thread - SkiBum80 - 09-17-2024

I'm going to continue my wild-eyed, and possibly misguided, confidence in The Cardinal to predict a great game!
If by great game we mean some defensive stops and takeaways and some exciting pass plays.
Unfortunately, having no confidence in any kind of run game, and no confidence in not being picked apart by their aerial attack,
I cannot in good conscience predict a win.
Cards lose 31-14, not close to the spread.
Afterwards Coach TT reminds us what a tough and talented and well-coached team Syracuse was, as is every other team we will ever face from here on out til the end of eternity.
As often disclaimed, and should go without saying, I hope I'm totally wrong.

maybe two, in an unconfirmed report over in "The Council" group on Facebook someone posted that Brown is out 4-6 weeks.  Brown does still show up on this week's depth chart...

I remember the days when if we saw Syracuse on our schedule we'd laugh.  Those were the days.

The latter: Syracuse 35, Stanford 17.

Further prediction: the Cardinal will earn 40 yards on the ground, averaging 2 yards per carry on 20 attempts, and 210 through the air on 30 passing attempts. 5 sacks and 4 TFLs sounds about right. Please no more than 7 Lamson ("let's tell everyone what play we're going to run") QB sneaks for a total of 7 yards. Cuse is not CP SLO.

I suppose it is possible that he is feeling some effects (or they are just being ultra cautious) because of him being hit in the head on that targeting call against Cal Poly.
That's the only thing I can think of other than him getting hurt in practice, which is doubtful.

RE: 2024 Stanford at Syracuse Predictions Thread - Hurlburt88 - 09-18-2024

I wish he had been wearing his mouthguard when he took that hit (I think it was on his helmet)

RE: 2024 Stanford at Syracuse Predictions Thread - thunder_chik - 09-18-2024

On my way to visit friends in England, and then to Basque country and beyond.  Will miss many games, but I'll be optimistic about this one.  Stanford 31, Orange Men 30.

RE: 2024 Stanford at Syracuse Predictions Thread - marchballer - 09-18-2024

I'm not feeling hopeful for this one. Give me 40-20 Cuse

RE: 2024 Stanford at Syracuse Predictions Thread - martyup - 09-19-2024

I don't see the point of picking against my team when no money is on the line.  So I predict the score will be 31-30.

"Shocking the world" at Syracuse. How far Stanford Football has fallen since EUTM mugged USC in the GOAT upset.
Oy.

Here is an update from the Stanford Daily with respect to both the O-line and D-line.  No mention of Brown.

RE: 2024 Stanford at Syracuse Predictions Thread - ADPinWDC - 09-19-2024

Sure we have a run defense... against a team that will throw 45-55 times a game, and booked 380y passing vs GTEC.
How's our pass defense... ?  McCord will throw to 6 or 7 receivers.

How will we control the ball?  With our run game?  Doesn't look like it.  The O-Line has not gelled.
Cuse can blitz and play man on our 2 WRs.

Maybe we put together 13 points with a turnover.
Cuse is good for 31, better than a TD per quarter.  Could get ugly by 3rd Quarter.

Thanks the link. Although spun positively, I don't get warm fuzzies from it.
We seem to have years of frequent line injuries. Almost always to key guys.
This time it's our DLine.
(sigh)
