Much of the UF staff were assistants for Kyle Smith when he was at Columbia. As was the GM of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Very nice indirect validation of Smith's ability to hire well. Can't wait for next season.

Totally missed the national championship yesterday; I take it Florida won.
Grand total number of minutes watching the final four and national championship games across both men and women: 0. I did peek at the score of the Houston/Duke game in the first half after my workout, so I was pleasently surprised to see that Duke lost.
I suppose at this point I
could care less, but I don't think I could care that much less.

You missed some good hoops BC!
Although, in last night's NC game, Houston somehow managed to turn the ball over on each of its last four possessions in the final couple minutes - after committing only 5 turnovers in the first ~ 38 minutes of play! Remarkable.

I would say more like Houston lost. That was brutal. Here's a question for everyone: Is it better to float along in mediocrity, or make it to the Final Four 7 times without winning a title? First Lorenzo Charles, now this.
The Final Four was really good basketball, even the first game just tracking on the phone from Sunken Diamond on Saturday.

I'm sure I did! Just as I am sure I've missed some great baseball over the last twenty years of pretty much not watching it, even though I watched as much baseball as I could growing up abroad (fortunately, in baseball loving Venezuela). I'm sure I missed some tremendous rugby in the recently completed six nations cup... but I just never got into rugby. The reason people watch sports is because almost regardless of the specific sport, it can produce amazing feats of athleticism, wonderful drama, and great storylines. That will never change.
And yet... despite my inability to wean myself from this board, and my continued curiosity over many of Stanford's storylines, I gotta say that my interest in watching collegiate sports just ain't there any more. Once my daughter graduates or loses interest in volleyball, I may be completely done.

I wouldn't be so sure. Tribal validation is the other big reason people watch sports, and it's a helluva drug......
Those who have seen the first season of Game of Thrones will recall when Tyrion Lannister is about to be forced to serve as a defendant in a trial by combat, and he invokes the law of Westeros to appoint a champion to represent his cause. That's much of what sports is, without the trial by combat part...... Our sports teams are the champions we appoint to validate our tribes.

We need to recruit a couple of Mountains. Some Clegane brothers would be helpful. Mountain at NT. Sandor/the Hound would make a good tight end. Tormund Giantsbane, defensive end. A few Starks, Robb Stark at QB, Jamie Lannister at WR, Davos Seaworth at defensive coordinator, Tywin Lannister at offensive coordinator, Bronn and Grey Worm at running backs, Barristan Selmy at LT, Jorah Mormont at RT, Brynden Tully/Blackfish at C, Genry LG, Jon Snow SS, Daario Naharis and Loras Tyrell DB, Khal Drogo MLB, Oberyn Martell WLB...

I think that team would have chemistry issues.
