Should pack the place since have they have taken a break from performing while serving in the army. Will Stanford football collect a million $ for player payments?
That should leave one more open date for a concert.

Question from at least one of my alum friends: do alumni or student-athlete alumni have any avenue for purchasing tickets outside the general crowd competing with automated scalper bots?

I received an email from Stanford Live/Stanford Athletics, presumably because I'm a season ticket holder, saying that I could buy tickets in a pre-sale on Wednesday 1/21 at noon.

I got the same email which said in part (I wonder how many tickets are in the limited number), I;m also a season ticket member. I would guess that Stanford Live donors (at least ones at a specific level and higher) will also get a shot at some tickets before the general sale on Jan 22.
Quote:You will be able to purchase tickets through a Ticketmaster limited presale starting on Wednesday, January 21 at 12 noon PT that concludes on January 21 at 10 p.m. PT. You will receive an email on January 21 at 12 p.m. PT with the link to purchase tickets.
Please note that there are a limited number of tickets available so we encourage you to act fast if you are interested in purchasing.

Did any CardBoard members get tickets? I tried for a friend and there was no availability at 12:25 or so when I managed to get in (after being required to update all the info in my Ticketmaster account).

I got 4 tickets to the Sunday show. I logged in immediately once I got the email and was second in the queue.

Haha, we were number three in the queue and got four tickets for Sunday, too.
I don't think my wife has ever been so happy to be a Stanford volleyball season ticket holder.

Sounds like demand will be very high for these tickets...congrats to all who got them! I don't know how the athletics department landed BTS of all artists, but this should help with athletics revenue in a big way, and it is kind of cool to have such prominent artists performing at Stanford, Coldplay included.

Stanford Lively Arts is the lead on getting the artists, not DAPER

I logged in as soon as I got the email at noon. Ticketmaster made me update my password. By the time I got back to ticket selection, it was about 12:05pm and there were no sets of 4 seats together. I managed to grab two sets of two next to each other. At that point I flipped over to Saturday to see if I could get better seats, and there were only handicapped and single seats available. All seats were gone by about 12:10pm.

The Lively Arts have been working for years to have concerts in the stadium. MTL was not supportive of having concerts there, Levin is.

WOW. Talk about squeezing all the fun out of Stanford. I can't believe it took a change in Stanford President to get one of the top bands in the world to come to Stanford.

No kidding. Access to globally relevant culture should also be a selling point for the Stanford student experience on top of what the Bing Concert Hall, Cantor Arts Museum, etc. already enable. (I hope some students were able to get tickets!)

K-Pop group BTS? l'll take Louis Prima, Keely Smith, Sam Butera, and the Witnesses. They could really cook and were a tight, disciplined group. Is Stanford expecting to fill up Stanford Stadium with teens who find the BTS guys arousing? Maybe DAPER will get a major cut to use on NIL deals...I suppose booking BTS is better than booking "the Village People" introduced by you know whom with his infamous "dance." Look for the Village People to be co-headliners with fellow geniuses Kid Rock, Ted Nugent, Jon Voight, and, as a bonus, a UFC Cage Match at the WH between Lil Marco and Vance in the decadent new Ballroom on July 4, 2026, to celebrate the nation's 250th birthday. Where's my Pepto Bismol?

You should tell everyone to get off your lawn while you're at it.
BTS is one of the most popular bands in the world. Their fans from when they last had a real tour have real jobs and real disposable income now.

Re "You should tell everyone to get off your lawn while you're at it," if it was actually my private lawn and I was reasonably well off, then I would not tell "everyone" to get off my lawn, but I'd certainly decide which parties I would allow to use my lawn to make big bucks for themselves. Part of what would go into my decision making about 'which to allow' would be the degree to which each party wanting to use my lawn was a progressive or a decadent social and/or cultural force. One of the major results of the last decade is the massive erosion of U.S. cultural standards, typified by the preposterous renaming of the Kennedy Center. I wouldn't be surprised if you denied any such erosion and believed that, at bottom, any value judgments about the relative cultural value of different 'artistic' phenomena in the same genre were purely subjective. I regard that aesthetic relativism as just as noxious as its ethical cousin. If so, we'll just have to agree to disagree. No problem. Reasonable people can differ reasonably.
