3 and out when we needed just one first down. That pretty much sums up our offense.
TV camera work was pretty bad. I saw Hornibrook out there but didn't see Hinton -- did Hinton start?

For the second straight game, we snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
The offense has a chance to close it out and can't do it. The defense has to get a stop and can't do it.

Somehow, when we had the ball with 3 minutes and change remaining, I had this horrible premonition that Shaw would turtle, we would kick it back and Washington would win on a last second FG. Turned out to be a TD and 2-pt. conversion, but the result is the same. Another L. Just sad.

A truly disgusting performance by our coaching staff. That 3rd down call by Shaw -- McKee sprint out with intended pass -- was HORRIBLE and was the turning point in the game. Gave it back to them with 3 min left. Stanford was massively outcoached by the UW crew.

Not me. I root for Stanford whoever the coach is. But the spectacle is looking bleak, and for two straight games we have let victory slip out of our hands late. This is not a well-coached team.

It’s a shame one team had to win. Huskies absolutely gifted Stanford a key first down by jumping offsides on a 4th and 4. A defensive holding on Washington also bailed Stanford out of an awful 3rd down.
McKee has regressed, the O-line is holding steady at pretty bad, and I would bet that the defense is statistically the worst in the Pac (though they at least had some key stops in the 4th quarter).
This is rock bottom for the Shaw era, imo. But, I don’t believe the gap is very large between any of the Pac North teams, so we’ll see if Stanford can build anything looking ahead to 2022.

No BC it is reality. The program went stale in 2019 and now is totally broken.
I will give Shaw credit for the call on the Symonds pass. However McKee needed to unload right away. Probably game over at that point.

The game was boring, we can’t run the ball because we can’t run block, and except for Higgins, all of our good receivers are injured. It’s just not fun watching this team anymore.

The 3rd down call was a good call. That play hadn't been run all night. The problem was that McKee didn't throw the ball on time, perhaps because he stumbled a little while rolling out. Symonds was open for a first down.

As if Stanford MBB doesn't present a cautionary tale what can happen to a program when the coach that (helped) build the program from nothing moves on to another job.
Also, weren't people complaining about Tara's coaching performance after, say the loss to Georgia early in the tourney in 2013 or 2014? I don't think people are complaining now.
(It is rare to achieve the kind of success that Tara and Coach Shaw have achieved; expecting someone to outperform the all time winningest coach in Stanford football history is
a tall order bordering on foolhardy).

That may well be the case. The program is not in a good place right now. But anyone who thinks Shaw is going anywhere anytime soon is deluded. I will remind you that five years into his tenure, Haase has exactly one winning conference season and no NCAA tournament appearances, and he is headed to his sixth season. This after his predecessor was at Stanford for eight years on the strength of two NIT championships and one NCAA tournament appearance (and two winning conference seasons). You guys may hate the idea, but Shaw would probably have to get to 2025 without another winning season to even be on the hot seat. And even once he’s gone, we are at least as likely to hire the next Teevens or Harris as we are the next Harbaugh.
You might as well hope Shaw somehow rights the ship, and that we surprise some folks in the last four games this year. I’m not Pollyanna here; 1-3 seems most likely, and 0-4 is surely possible. But that wouldn’t make me happy on the misguided notion that the grass is somehow greener if we lose and rid ourselves of Shaw (not that we will).

Yes, but running Austin Jones twice into the pile on the first two downs didn't do much to move the clock, since UW had two TOs in their pocket. Our problem is a fundamental inability to move the ball (265 yards total offense), but when you need to move the ball downfield to seal the victory and have no run game, and then you decide to run it twice when you know the opponent can stop the clock, then it's almost a decision to hand the ball back with plenty of time, which we did. And Sanborn's miserable punt did not help matters.
