Each team had a penalty for snapping the ball before the players were set, the 49er one could have cost them the game when they were forced to punt after running what would have been a sneak that would have given them a first down and the ballgame. Then, SF decides that it’s no big deal if the Cowboys stop the clock. Then Prescott says “hold my bear” while he runs down the middle of the field leaving the Cowboys no time to take a shot.
The end of the game was a comedy of errors; just glad the Niners won.

Wasn’t Shanahans fault that his QB missed a wide open receiver for a big play, maybe a TD, then throws an awful int and doesn’t wait for his lineman to get set on a fourth and inches sneak that would have sealed the game. As for his conservative play calling late - damn right. Did you trust JG at that point?

No, not at all. I questioned the Niners apparent abandonment of the run in favor of Jimmy in the second half. Some clear, run it down their throats situations, and Kyle got too cute. Last week, they had a drive with all runs and score a TD on a pass by Deebo, who was a running back. That's what they should have done.

BC, the networks have decided to use two different sensors in live broadcast. It drives me nuts. Normal live broadcasting is still mostly high def in 16x9 with a deep depth of field. The steady cam today had a Super 35 sensor that mirrors the depth of field of theatre motion picture. They operate at wide open apertures that render backgrounds severely out of focus. The director would intercut from a “normal” television camera with HD sensor to a theatrical image. NBC has used a handheld camera with S35 sensor generally following a golfer from green to next tee. The effect is jarring.

As for Aikman the old contract model had the season long TV schedule: AFC to CBS and NFC to Fox. All that changed this season. Romo talks too much just like Madden who was the instigator of “I’m here and I have to talk between every play.”
I preferred Dizzy Dean’s style. You watched the game and every now and then you listened to Ole Diz’ stories.

Completely agree about the talking too much. I will listen to some broadcast teams - Nance/Romo, Buck/ Aikman and Michaels/Collingsworth come to mind. College, I like Danielson and the guy he works with. Herbstreet as well. Most of the rest, I watch with the sound off. They talk way too much. And the overhype gets to be off putting.

I don't care for Romo, but he's a minor irritant to me.
Aikman has recently drawn criticism for being "soft" on Garropolo and comparatively "tough" on Dak Prescott. I don't really care one way or the other, but I would have preferred Aikman to be on the Dallas/49er broadcast.

I agree, and maybe it's just because I'm old, but I prefer Kruk and Kuip who tell stories from time to time. They both played when I was a kid, and the stories help me reconnect to that time, when they talk about Stargell and Rose and Oscar Gamble and Big Daddy Reuschel and so on...

I don't care for Romo, but he's a minor irritant to me.
Aikman has recently drawn criticism for being "soft" on Garropolo and comparatively "tough" on Dak Prescott. I don't really care one way or the other, but I would have preferred Aikman to be on the Dallas/49er broadcast.

I agree, and maybe it's just because I'm old, but I prefer Kruk and Kuip who tell stories from time to time. They both played when I was a kid, and the stories help me reconnect to that time, when they talk about Stargell and Rose and Oscar Gamble and Big Daddy Reuschel and so on...

Lex and BC. yeah. Their steadicam guy was working with a camera with a Super35 sensor. Nothing wrong with a cinema look as long as it is not jarring. This was jarring. It's a tough operating job handheld because focus on your subject is so critical. On a movie set you have an assistant cameraperson (AC) riding remote focus rather than running onto the field with a QB all by yourself.

His partner, Brad Nessler does an excellent job, I think. They do the Sun Bowl it seems like every year, too. Danielson wanted to be elsewhere.
