Stanford block non existent so far
Are we watching the same game?
Where did the Pac12 find these officials? Matt Ulmer has a point when he says, “Why do I have to keep pulling this challenge card?”
I wouldn’t be too hard on the officials. They obviously weren’t able to get much rest after reffing our football game last night against UCLA…

Really liked this win. Oregon is really good and they had a big crowd there supporting them. Their defense was really solid and they seemed to play very, very well out of system. That was frustrating but wasn't enough for them. Over the entire match, Oregon had slightly more kills, assists, digs, and blocks than us. The teams were even on aces. In the end we had a better kill percentage than Oregon and dominated the fourth set when Stanford started getting more stops and Oregon started to realize they didn't have enough to get the win.
I was very happy with the grit the team showed late in the first two sets. Finished strong on the road. Great sign for the tough games to come. I would still like to see more desperate determination in every rotation to never give up on a point and keep rallies going from Stanford but they seem to be improving in that area. We need these tough contests to be ready if this team is going to make a run at a championship. Love beating the Ducks in anything.
Cheers,
Pete F.

Really good win considering the opponent and being on the road.
- Best I have seen the team serve as a collective.
- All the pins played well today.
- Miner and Oglive were their typical terrific.
- I would have liked to see the MB’s used more but
- they weren’t very effective today.
- middle blockers shouldn’t try to receive serves.
- I think the officials were drunk. Insane number of upheld challenges, several of which were not close

I thought the problem was that floor playing games on the refs' eyes. There needs to be a rule limiting graphics on the court.

In case you aren't familiar with Oregon's arena and court graphics, there is a link below. This is the same court Oregon uses for Basketball but in my opinion the graphic is more annoying in Volleyball where the borders intersect the end lines. (The link is from a ticketmaster jpg but should take you to the picture only.)

In 1938 Neville Chamberlain declared "Peace in our time", Superman first appeared in Action Comics, Seabiscuit beat War Admiral ....... and C.a.l last won the Rose Bowl.

White lines??? Doesn’t everybody else use black. Black will contrast better with the ball.
I was out of town and missed the broadcast.

Wow, that's impressive. ESPN seems to be going all in this year in televising WVB. There must be something in the viewership numbers supporting that.
In general Stanford played fairly well although there was a weakness for the Cardinal. Offensively the Oregon middles torched Stanford.

AVCA poll Stanford remains #3. The only way Nebraska or Wisconsin drop from #1 and #2 is if one of them loses to some other team. They won't drop below #2 losing to each other.
In the NCAA ranking Stanford is #2 and Wisconsin is #4. That's what playing a tough non-conference schedule does for you.

B1G Network total average viewership last Saturday
Wisconsin Nebraska Volleyball Match: 612,000
Indiana Rutgers Football Game: 232,000
https://volleyballmag.com/wisconsin-nebr...rd-102423/
This might explain in part why more WVB is being televised recently.

I've been watching the Duke vs North Carolina match on ACCN. While Duke is a mid-level team, their band is first rate. The youngest Keefe sister is Duke's go-to hitter. She would not be in Stanford's starting lineup this season. I don't know the reason for choosing Duke (did Hambly recruit her?), but it seems her Duke decision turned out the best for everyone.

Their recruiting process seems to target smart girls whose dream school is Stanford but aren't good enough to be recruiting targets for us. FWIW, they can have a really nice team with this process.....
