Nice to see Yaz heating up a little bit before he visits Fenway tonight. He went 2 for 3 with a game-winning HR. He's now hitting .236, better than any of the three previous years. Perhaps he'll return to greatness.

Slater looked awful pinch-hitting for Yastrzemski. Struck out on three pitches, 87 mph slow curve that caught the fat part of the plate, 94 mph fastball belt high on outside of plate, swung and missed (late) on same pitch in nearly same location. Maybe.  I heard FZ on KNBR yesterday. They are hopeful that Snell will be ready when they get home and that he’ll only miss one or two more starts.  if that’s the case, I doubt they call up Black, primarily because he’s not on the 40 man roster. If Snell is going to be out longer, I think they will call up Black FZ also made it clear that he’s in “consideration.” (Personally, i’d like to see Snell do a rehab start or two in Sacramento. Next time he goes on the mound, I want him to actually be ready to pitch in a major league regular season game. He wasn’t prior to his injury.)

He runs into one every now and then, 29 home runs in 500 ABs at the AAA level, about the same at AA. He struck out 152 times in 500 ABs at AAA, slightly worse in AA actually. So...I'm guessing a stat line of 4 ABs, 3 Ks, maybe a HBP (he gets hit a lot).

Technically speaking, his slash line is .500/.500/1.000/1.500. On one glorious day, the third round selection debuted as a pinch hitter -- against the Giants, no less -- and hit a double off of Brebbia, later scoring. He was a defensive replacement the next game, then got sent back down. Hasn't been in the majors since. And given that he was 2 for 16 in spring training, I didn't expect him to get a sniff of a Giants game...except everyone knows that spring training stats are meaningless. And here we are.
