Not to mention the limitations on getting players through the portal.
That is the new world. A good friend of mine son is a college basketball coach. Assistant at a D1 school. Turnover is just the way it is. You have no choice you deal with the portal or you die.
+1
I'm sorry, but you can't give Muir and TT a pass. The reality of the new world of CFB was obvious when TT was hired two years ago. It's been obvious for over four years now. TT specifically said he could rebuild this team by recruiting, developing, and retaining high school players with a culture of "love" and great coaching (specifically, quarterback whispering and innovative offensive schemes). Muir selected TT for these reasons and they both said the rebuild could be done our special way, without reliance on the portal. Now TT is singing a completely opposite tune because he doesn't have any other explanations for the team's total lack of progress.
It's slightly early to say (as in, about one month too early), but all signs indicate that they were both wrong in a very damaging way. They sowed false hope, allowing the institution to continue its indecision and inaction on the matter. Bring the matter to a head. Bring in an AD and a coach who are suited to the new world, or just give up and be transparent about it so we can go do other things with our Saturdays.
Bernard: "Or we can learn to like getting our asses handed to us most of the time while we soldier on! With a laser focus on being Stanford. After all, the winningest coach in school history, David Shaw, said our recruits know who they are and self-select. Is that great or what? Portal Shmortal. 'Who's got it better than us? ' Oh, wait, another guy said that. OK, I'm confused these days, but most of the time I admit it."
Life is too short to waste on crap football.
