Thinking some more about our South Dakota kid.

Many of us think of South Dakota and big farm kids, and there are lots of them.  But Farniok's hometown, Sioux Falls, is one of those typical, white collar professional centers that slowly emerges in smaller states like South Dakota.  They become the medical and legal centers for the region, and end up with many well-educated professionals, many with advanced degrees.  (Sioux Falls has over 30,000 people--of its quarter million population--employed in health care, over 15,000 with just two brobdingnagian companies alone.) mcities, and often are attracted to much larger cities for post-high school. 

Another factor at work there has been the lack of a state income tax.  I know this well; one of my clients lives near me but has his large and growing insurance company in Sioux Falls, and my clients Wells Fargo and CitiGroup have big operations there.

So we really are dealing with what only appears to be a small farming town.  It's really more like a typical affluent suburb of a large Midwest city. 

For this reason, Farniok might find us very attractive.  Kids in this region like to go some place bigger, and often some place warmer.  Arizona is a big draw, not least of all because the more affluent families often have second homes or time shares there,
