I don't know about Stanford grads per se but having grown up in the Bay Area, I have noticed this. I'm a city boy through and through, but I do have an appreciation for parts of the country where folks live more rural lifestyles. I often prickle when hearing how some of my friends speak about places that aren't large coastal cities, and how arrogantly they speak of California, the Bay Area in particular.

I'm with you, I lived in the SFBA all my life. And while I'm sympathetic, the SFBA is a place like no other. It is special. But I don't lord it over other people, that's unkind.
