I think we are going to be pleasantly surprised by the end result with this recruiting class. The class clearly is going to be very good, but there is upside that I think most are dismissing. The hope seems to be that Stanford can somehow get one of the elite receivers on the board, but Stanford has a legitimate shot at landing more than one. Robertson consistently tells reporters that Stanford is on top. I don't think he would do that if admission is an insurmountable problem. Burton is doing the ap work too. Why bother if he's not serious about Stanford. And then the real key is going to be the offensive performance on the field. Shaw is opening up the offense and showing high school WRs that there's a significant role for them.  If you add those two guys to the current commits, this becomes a guaranteed top 10 class, more like top 7 most likely.

While I agree with the general tenor of your comments, I'll be very pleasantly surprised if we don't have one or two admission dings, either with players already committed  or players who are strong Stanford leans.  Maybe it won't be either of the two guys you mentioned (though we clearly have had players list Stanford as their leader, even commit, and then get caught up in admissions, so the confidence of recruits in their ability to get in is not always the best indicator of admission).

On the other hand, to add to your list of potential late-recruiting cycle commits, I keep wondering if Costello can convince Dylan Crawford to come on board.  At one point Crawford was rumored to want to enroll early, which of course would knock Stanford out of the competition for him.  But Crawford has never said much about his process, at least not that I'm aware of.  And perhaps the improved play of the OL in these last two games will have an influence on some players at that position.
