Tough evening for KJ Costello & Co. last night.
62-14 trouncing by St. John Bosco. Ouch.
I guess the one good thing is the game shows that St John Bosco wasn't just good because of Josh Rosen.
When Rosen was a junior their senior class had like 10-15 kids sign D1 scholarships. They're the top HS football program in Cali right now and it isn't even close. I think they actively recruit which I believe is frowned upon.

Bosco may be the top program in California, but I think it's a close race between them and perennial power De La Salle. They edged by DLS in last year's state championship game, and I'll be surprised if the two teams don't meet in the same game this year.
Not sure what the rules are in California these days, but in Florida recruiting is not only frowned on, but a sanctionable offense if you get caught doing it. It still goes on anyway, and there is a lot of hostility toward teams (mostly private schools) that are suspected of doing it.
My biggest worry about Costello this year isn't that he will perform poorly, but that he will suffer some kind of injury that will hamper his college career. Doesn't sound like this ankle injury is too serious, though.
